Model and fog problem?

(.Chris.) #1

In my map some of the modesl used looks really out of place they appear to be foggy when far away and when walk close to them they are normal i think this is due to the fog used iam not sure heres some examples of what iam talking about:

as for the fog iam using in the map its:
_fog
textures/skies/sd_batteryfog
fogclip
3200

also other stuff ive used in worldspawn that may help:
_color
1.000000 0.962463 0.712261
__minvertexlight
18
_mingridlight
56

not totally sure what they do but was told to add by someone ages ago
i also have a fog shader that acts as water in my map as the islands float in clouds, hence the name battle of wolken.
anyway if can can give any help on now to solve this i’d be very gratefull as my map isnt
exactly looking any good with them as it is.
EDIT doesnt happen on all models just a few.

There’s one parameter missing in worldspawn:

key: _farplanedist
value: 3200

Not sure if fogclip has to be greater then farplanedist (or vise versa).

I put that in but saddly didnt work, i think ill just use models that dont do this sort of thing in the map but the command post and spawn flag will have to remain like this untill i can find out what is causing this. thanks anyway

Hmm, try to remove the _color-key.
Not sure about this.

textures/skies/sd_batteryfog will fog out your map at 8192 units.

while the stuff in the world spawn is fogging the other bits out at 3200 units.
You’ll need to make a new fog shader.
