Modded Basic maps

I am looking for some modified basic/stock maps. I am not talking about maps that just had the “season” changed. I am looking for maps that have had things added. Like tunnels, new passages, new rooms, etc.

I know that Goldrush has many different versions and Battery has some as well. I am looking for the other basic maps. I appreciate any information or links you can share.

Oasis has also a few variants… if you are looking only for stock maps. Transmitter has a tunnel which is originally closed.
This variation of Goldrush I liked, but its a different map, not just a mapscript - not sure what you are looking for…

Season… StoerFaktor just made Gold Rush London, all the maps have a temperate version. Return to Fuel Dump (I think) turn it to temperate and Axis attack; Fueldump_uv is a desert version with few additions; SW_FuelDump_TE turn it into temperate but affects all the other maps; 2Bit made Radar Summer (StoerFaktor the Winter), and also modified Battery.

Thank you for your responses so far. What I am looking for are some maps where someone has added tunnels or other items. Such as new parts were added to Goldrush in the Goldrusg by FOG map. I am asking because I am making map rotations for our server and would like to throw some maps in like this to keep players on their toes.

Super Goldrush has some new open houses, but it is more a fun modification :slight_smile:

I look in my etmain, there’s Oasis Winter, Oasis EU, SW Oasis Beta 3 for Oasis…

Goldrush GA [Greater Access], quite popular; WF Goldrush (Haven’t tested it yet), seems some people like it.

For core maps I think that’s far enough for you :slight_smile: I should miss some ones, but there’s already a good list.

OK. Laugh at me if you want. But, I grabbed tiger_dump_b7 and tried to load it locally. If I try to “Host Server”, it is not listed in any of the game types. If I try to run it from the console “/map tiger_dump” (tiger_dump is the bsp name). it starts to load and says to change the gametype to 2. This happens on some other maps as well, like goldrush_germany.

Here is what it says in the console.

ERROR: Map ‘fort_paderborn’ isn’t a valid campaign starting map. Set your gametype to 2 to load it directly.

ERROR: Map ‘tiger_dump’ isn’t a valid campaign starting map. Set your gametype to 2 to load it directly.

ERROR: Map ‘goldrush_germany’ isn’t a valid campaign starting map. Set your gametype to 2 to load it directly.

Start your map in Objective mode, so gametype 2, to avoid the ones not in a campaign. It could be, I say could, that you have too much PK3s in etmain, this means a lot of PK3s.

tiger_dump generally have memory failure to load, I can’t remember if the fix was increased hunkmegs… Lot of time I haven’t touched these settings in my CFGs.

Mateos - Thanks for the reply. I do have a good number of pk3’s in the etmain. I will clear them out of what is not needed to see if that helps.

There actually is no need to delete pk3s from your directory. If the Error-message says <<Set your gametype to 2 to load it directly>> You simply set your gametype to the value 2 and it willl load.
The command for this is

/set g_gametype 2

Just paste that line into the console before loading the map.

I recommend to create a shortcut of your ET.exe. This helps you saving a lot of work since you can start that shortcut with certain parameters. Just right-click on the shortcut symbol select “properties[lowest button]”. Then you’ll see a command-line which directs the shortcut to the actual ET.exe. Behind the directory path you put for example +g_gametype 2 +sv_pure 0. Now when you start ET via this shortcut there is no need to always write that into your console anymore. I hope it is quite understandable.

I pasted my command-line beneath so you can see what i actually can look like.

Well I had it, and when I copy/pasted it into a clear folder it made it. Now I have even more PK3s in my online install, and it crashes when I try to load a map on it.

And clearing could prevent future issues :confused:

So sorry for the mistake; But clearing the ~~~~~~~~~~~~ PK3s is always a good thing IMO.

So I will dig a bit more the offtopic by asking what could cause the crashes I have?

IMO:

  • If the console on startup does not reset (You can see it with the cursor on the right), the Local Host will work.
  • If it reloads one time, first the maps in the second load does not appear in the list (Starts from special characters anf finish by A-Numbers), and you can’t play in Local the others.
  • If it reloads twice, it crashes the game.

I have a clear mapping folder, I had to clear a bit the Omni-Bot waypointing one because I was in the case 2, and the case 3 is my online gaming install (After clearing, I still have 425 PK3s…).

Edit:
I read my post and it could sound offensive; It is not the meant purpose, just would like to know if I can fix this, and so merge my Gaming/OB folder.

both maps i modded was running on public servers without problems.
but its true both need higher hunkmegs - 128
reason are the models - especially the tank on fueldump - because the cains are fully animated, there are a lot of moving vertices…
the special thing on the fueldump mod are the features you can activate with changing some scriptlines - for example a door to the fueldump, a new exit for axis last spawn and so on…
but the only reason i did that map mod was to show the tank :slight_smile:

btw to open maps local -
/g_gametype 2
/sv_pure 0
/devmap [mapname] (devmap allows you to use noclip and such stuff - to see hidden stuff for example)

I have never bodded any scriptfiles. If I was to do that, would I have to rename the pk3 file to make it different from the original? If I found an updated scriptfile, would I just replace the one in the pk3 file for the map?

As for my gametype issue, you guys were a big help! I change it in console and the maps load up.

Still looking for some unusual maps for us to play on. But if I can update script files easily enough, that would be a bonus!

Just to clarify. I am not compiling anything. I am only using PakScape to work with the pk3 files. When I do the maps for our server, I make a pk3 file with the contents of the individual pk3 files inside it.

It depends on the mod. You don’t have to touch the PK3, the mods have a cvar like g_mapscript or something in which you put a folder path, and in this folder you put the custom .script files: they will be loaded by the server, no download for clients, immediate effect. Check your mod documentation, I will check for NQ and edit this post :slight_smile:

Jaymod is set g_mapScriptDirectory “Path” too

I have 3 ET Installs - one for game play, one for mapping and one for servers and for omni bot…

Talking about basic maps has any one got the folder models/mapobjects/siwa_tunnels_sd/ as I am looking for all the .ase files in there and can not find them :frowning:
