Mod idea: "Jump"

Just had the idea of some kind of “Jump” mod thinking of the “No Quarter” mod with it’s “Super Mario Award”.

Idea:

[ul]
[li]no weapons
[/li][li]3D maps (with platforms)
[/li]may be powerup(s) on some/one of the platforms
[li]damage is only done by jumping on someones head (not necessarily instant kill)
[/li][li]instant spawn
[/li][/ul]
Not sure about classes at the moment.
Field Ops could distribute some kind of energy with enables to jump higher and/or over a bigger distance.
Medics could heal if the jumps don’t instantly kill.

Some more ideas?

As a weapon you could use low-range (just as in NQ i guess) panzerfaust :slight_smile:

I think it can be done just by using ETPub, a custom map and a nice config.

[ul][li]Enable g_knifeonly first.
[/li][li]Make the knife non-lethal by setting g_dmgKnife to “0”.
[/li][li]Set g_useralliedrespawntime and g_useraxisrespawntime to “1”. (Can be done from the map’s script as well.)
[/li][li]Enable Goomba by setting the goomba modifier. (Eg. g_goomba set to “2”)

Thnx for the suggestions.

Problem with knife would be that the model is still visible.
May be a model with no blade.

Further problem:
1st person view would still show the arm and 3rd person would show the stab animation (although useless) if attack is pressed.
“attack” could be used for a special attack (see beneath).

Some more ideas:
May be 3rd person view only.
And a “Stampfattacke” that instantly kill/gibb (seems to be a special attack of Yoshi in “Yoshi’s Island”).
May be with a flip animation ([not for admins ears]theres a flip animation in RTCW (AFAIR) [/not for admins ears]).

Edit:

The special attack could be the attack of the soldier that also produces splashdamage if enemy is missed and soldier lands on the ground.
Charge bar consuming.

Nice but make this ideas is hard, time consuming and hard to find peoples willing to work on it free ( especially if you want make it in good qualitty )
Maybe if is possible to make maps and include it in classics ET and make these things by scripting and so on …

A cool side effect of g_fixedphysics 1 in No Quarter is that goomba killing will allow you to boost off the player you killed, much like it does in Super Mario Bros. So you can goomba multiple nearby enemies without landing on the ground by boosting from one to another. That’d be a cool feature to add to this idea.
