I have just rented a server. I installed NQ. on the server.
I have a map I made and would like to play around with it.
Is there someone out there that can tell me how Mod work and how to use then?
I been to NQ site, it has alot of commands, but it does not tell how to use then and how to make you map use them. Yes I been to the NQ forum, I must not liked there very much or they think I am dumb. I don’t get much help there.

Mod How does the work??
its your map completed? I means you have an pk3 (bsp) or you just are trying to use your .map file?
If youre using it as .map i recommend you to use devmap locale not in a rented server.
what youre trying to say about NQ has commands to use with an map?

Hi I do have a pk3 file and I can use the map file of my map… I tried some NQ comm. in the map scripts folder. Like time for spawning, time of the map. but it did not work. Do I have call the NQ MOD in the map scripts?
owww. I think you mean how to use a mod?
Ensure that etded or et is called with the additional command line
arguments ‘+set fs_game nq’ (could be noquarter -> just the name of the folder name of the mod you want to use).

That may work for me, but when I put it on the server, not every one it going to have that set up to use NQ on that map.
What I need to know how does et know what mod to use when it load pk3 file. What tell ET to load that mod for that map.
Also is there t tut that tell how mods work any place?

Mods and maps are not connected together… You can use whatever map on whatever ET mod… just upload map and mod to your server.

I dont know if i understand it right but youre trying to use NQ only when your server runs this map? That is impossible i think.
i think the problem is youre not asking the right questions.
If you use a server to load a map you must set a mod for the server or the server will run it in etmain. if youre going to use NQ you must add at your command line “+set fs_game nq” or “+set fs_game noquarter” (depends the version of NQ). also in some servers providers they dont let ppls add some commands at command line, and if i remember right some guys cant use devmap in rented servers

Ok I think we are getting there. I have been making models,map and games for over ten years. I know about stuff like that.
The web stuff I know not a thing.When a friend wanted me to make a map for him to play in et, I did not think it would be so hard. Ok. when you are talking about command line you are talking about the server.Right. So what you are saying that any game that is played on the sever will be ran in the NQ Mod.

Can you answer questions:
Have you made the map with Radiant yourself?
Do you know how to make correct pk3 package?
Do you know how to test your map locally?
Do you know what is server.cfg, campaigncycle.cfg or objectivecycle.cfg?
Mapping is hard process at first, so recheck everything, go through tutorials.
You could also download a custom map from wolffiles and test how you load it on your server, because then you see how this is done and this might also help. So with a custom map from wolffiles you place it in etmain folder, then you edit server.cfg, and campaigncycle.cfg or objectivecycle.cfg, then you start up ET (it does not have to be NQ mod, it can also be Jaymod, or etpub, because they all do this the same AFAIK). Then see if works and if you edited .cfg giles correctly so your custom map from wolffiles works. Then you could go ahead and try the same with your own map.
According to your first post, you just want to test your map? Or am I wrong?
You can test it locally before, with etmain or a mod of your choice

It has been tested here a lot. we been playing in it for about 3 months. One week end I have some of my friend bring there computer over, and we 10 guys played in it for the week end. We all had a good time and a lot of beer. I was not running any Mod.

Yeah, so if you have finished and working map in .pk3, you will have to take a look at everything about campaigncycle.cfg or objectivecycle.cfg (if i understood you correct at least). This is basic server set up, but i can also remember how i also never found anything clear on the map and every guid i found was a wall of text making it sound complicated
But its easy. Good luck and may you start up zi map the other way you did start it with friends. No clue why you thought about NQ commands here :o
