MOA or FEL
Due to the recent change for the ammo of both guns (MOA have 5 now from 6, FEL have 6 now from 5), which gun do you prefer now?
Just need to get used to having less ammo in my mag, felix still shoots like crap
MoA is still clearly superior. You do not need all 6 shots before getting a chance to reload. The increased over all reload time and faster fire rate is still infinitely better.
They could nerf it to 4 shots and it would still probably be better.
As a sniper, you shouldn’t be under so much pressure that you drain your mags that fast. That one shot isn’t going to make much of a difference if you already keep yourself topped off like ya should.
Meanwhile the Fel-ix only does 4 more points of damage…that will go completely unoticed 99% of the time. Unless of course you want to play like Phoenix and kill them “very dead”. Usually dead is enough though.
The recent swapping of ammo count really doesn’t change much at all. The Moa is still superior in every single way that matters. Faster RoF, faster reload, better augments on cards and can 1 shot the same mercs as the FEL IX.
There isn’t any real reason to use the FEL IX over the Moa. The extra 4 damage gains you almost nothing except in rare situations that does not offset the other benefits to using the Moa.
There is nothing wrong with using the FEL IX. It’s just not as optimal even after the ammo count swap. I’ve already said in other threads what I think SD should do to make each weapon distinctive while also fixing the issue of instant gibs in higher end competitive matches.
As cool as Felix, the Cat is, the MoA (stupid bird) is probably the superior gun if you can get consistent headshots. However Felix is better for centermass hits able to down most light mercs and knocking off half health of most other mercs (or more). Basically the MoA is the highest skill tier rifle, the Felix is the mid skill rifle, and the PDP is the lowest skill rifle.
Why would you use the Fel when the MOA is literally better in every way.
There is only a 4 damage point different between the Moa and the FEL IX. 75 body for the Moa vs. 79 body for the FEL IX. They both can headshot gib the exact same mercs and both cannot headshot gib the exact same mercs (including Thunder with 160HP). Also, if you body shot an Aura with the Moa it will still only take 1 bullet from any gun in the game to finish just the same as the FEL IX.
In the past the FEL IX could body shot kill Aura and Sparks (it hit for 80 body damage) and would be the only rifle that could HS kill Thunder. But the damage was reduced by 1 point due to community feedback which simply put the rifle in the territory of “bad Moa”.
I still want the FEL IX to be dropped down to 3 or 4 shots, maybe increase reload slightly and RoF slightly but allow it to 1 hit HS any merc in the game (maybe not rhino) with gib. And then simply remove the gib from the Moa. This would make the FEL IX the superior heavy hitters rifle while not making it the new standard. The Moa would still be easier to use, faster to fire and chamber but no longer get the HS gibs which fixes a lot of issues high end competitive players have with insta-gibs with the Moa (even the best snipers in the game want HS gibs removed). It would make the rifles be different and distinct while reducing the gib issues at the higher end of the spectrum. Just my thoughts though and I know not everyone will agree.
What if the Moa was made to have 74 damage so it couldn’t insta-kill fragger?
RyePanda;
NOOOOO! Fragger does not need a buff, not at all. Don’t even put the thought into the ether. Brrr, no, I get shivers just thinking about it.
I swear when I have 1 or 2 shots left in my magazine, I can be staring at a choke point for AGES with nothing happening and as SOON as I start my reload, someone runs through.
The less instances of that happening, the better - that’s why I choose the FEL-IX over the MOA.

Think of it more as a buff to the FEL-IX
RyePanda:
But its not just going to be that. If it was to happen then it would also cause Fragger a further buff through cause and effect by limiting the amount of weapons that could one shot him to 1.
