Mission XP requirments need rebalancing?

(K1X455) #21

@Dr_Plantboss Well, easy solutions aren’t always the best. Stating that just the “objective XP needs rebalancing” but don’t you think it could possibly throw off the balance of the other XP requirements?

True, but it doesn’t warrant not putting the option there.

IMO, this topic shouldn’t even be a poll.

(ImSploosh) #23

Never had a problem obtaining game mode xp although I have heard a few people say they cancel those missions. I tend to play the objective consistently no matter the class because my team is always clueless.

(K1X455) #24

@Dr_Plantboss The whole point of re-balancing is to achieve balance. If you’ll remove weight on one end without due consideration on the other end of the scale, what’s the point of re-balancing then?

(Dr_Plantboss) #25

Everything I just said can be applied here.

The reason that this shouldn’t be a poll it because there’s just too many options and scenarios that can be used. There are too many variables. What variables? Let’s look at the different types of mission:

  • Combat XP
  • Objective XP
  • Support XP
  • Total XP

Each of these have 3 levels of difficulty, and you didn’t even include the 2 red ones in your poll anywhere!
If you were to make a poll that presents all balancing options, you would have to have about
479001600 (12!)
poll options.

I’d like to bring your focus to this:

I was comparing the rates at which a player gains of the two types XPs (Game Mode and Combat XP). If you consider support XP, it’s very easy to get that using Aura or Sawbonez. If you want a challenge, try using Phoenix, or Sparks. Consider also that in the current maps, where there’s more than 1 objective specialist, the Game Mode XP will be contested among every player that has a similar mission and is playing an objective specialist so the chances to accumulate Game Mode XP is reduced per game. As for Total XP, it’s got to be the easiest of all cause you just add all three XP types and you earn it in one sitting.

That 479001600 number of options doesn’t totally reflect a concise way to give players the proper choices for a balancing action. Mathematically, it’s logical, but practically, it is not; that is the reason why I narrowed it just down to three choices. I’m still open to suggestions though, cause why not?

I was thinking about this problem, and came up with a possible solution.

  1. If you kill an enemy while either you or the enemy is near an objective (gets XP for “guarding” the objective) you get an additional 10-20 or even more game mode XP.

  2. On top of this, remove the “shut down” and “cutting it fine” badges, and award game mode XP instead (decreased by the amount added by the 1. point)

If SD would implement these changes, I would even consider adding Shitcancer Proxy in my squad instead of instantly abandon game mode XP missions.

Shut down and Cutting it Fine badges add to the defensive player’s [color = Yellow]Game Mode XP. If you remove them, there will be less opportunities for other players to gain [color = Yellow]Game Gode XP.

Perhaps if players are not repair/defuse stacking, they could gain [color = Yellow]Game Gode XP by providing cover, if they are within a certain radius of an objective specialist doing the job.

I just join Execution to complete Game XP missions.

(ClemClem7) #30

Game mode xp is not even hard to get on the right maps (aka bridge and chapel) but fairly hard on other maps.
If one change is needed, it’s how we can get more game mode xp on other maps.
An EV map is way better for game mode because of the repair/destroy which give you a lot of xp.

As a team player (medic, objective, support) I find it harder to complete combat xp than others.

What? badges add to the missions?
that is something new to me…

(Nail) #32

@K1X455 not one person voted for your idea, I’d say that was a pretty definitive answer

(K1X455) #33

@Nail True. Not all my ideas are the best. I was looking at it from a developers’ perspective. I really don’t know how to modify existing maps to add more opportunities for Game Mode XP. I could still recall when secondary missions was still around and everyone was clamouring for it until it became so annoying, the community asked it to be removed from the mission list.

Or did I just over simplified the choices without fully explaining them before everyone voted? Surely, adding more “generators to fix/destroy” or “forward spawns to capture” would be a ludicrous idea.

(GatoCommodore) #34

Game Mode Exp is ez to get brah, why making it easier? thats backward thinking.

(K1X455) #35

For defence, on Chappel, Bridge, and Trainyard, yes… it’s being in the offence that is rather tight and difficult.

(ThunderZsolt) #36

It is not hard, but unreliable. I mean it requires specific maps and game modes to be able to get a considerable amount of objective XP, while you can get combat and support XP anywhere.

Also, how is 4500 support XP 2x harder than 4500 objective XP? Because it gives 2x more credits. That is like the definition of unbalanced imo.

Count the number of opportunities at which Game Mode XP can be achieved if you’re on offense. You probably don’t notice that if you’re on defence, you gain game mode xp the longer you defend the objectives.

I…

I don’t understand what are you trying to say for me in this post. Especially what is the relation of your post and the quoted part. I think you quoted the wrong post, or something.

“Probably don’t notice”, lol. I know that you get periodically 200 objective XP for “long defense bonus”

“Count the number of opportunities at which Game Mode XP can be achieved if you’re on offense”

Let’s see:
Arm C4 on primary objective
Repair/destroy side objective
Repair/escort the EV
Deliver carriables.

Still don’t see how is it fair compared to support XP, which can be earned by healing/reviving teammates, giving them ammo, or even spotting enemies with redeye, and you get 2x more credits for doing easier stuff.

There is no such map to date that has all of those objective types, if you’re on offence.

If there is an EV involved (Dynamic/Rolling objective), there will only be a secondary objective to accomplish. (Chappel, Bridge)

If there is a Demolition objective (Static objective), there will also be secondary objective(s) to accomplish (Trainyard, Underground, Dome)

Now, all maps have deliverables to date. However, how many objective runners are there in the team? Not to mention, the opportunistic players that play medic and exposes you to fire while you’re delivering, only to steal the container when you’re down and get the objective themselves.

And oh BTW, did any of you notice the bug involving objective badges?

(GatoCommodore) #40

i still dont think it needs rebalancing

you have 2 hours to do the mission yknow
