Missing shader images?

(Plan B) #1

Hi guys

TBH, today is the first time I started editing for RTCW.
(Had it from day one but after completing SP let it rest until now.)

I’m excited about all the added functionality but I have a problem:

I get a lot of “missing shader image” indications, both when loading textures (in console) and models (in camera view).

I use GtkR-1.2.11-Q3RTCW with the GtkR-1.2.13-patch.

I added the entries mentioned in this link to the shaderlist.txt file.

Obviously, the scripts folder only contains the shader files extracted on setup and not the shader files supporting the added entries.
However, those are supported by the pk3’s, directly.

And the problem of having missing shader images doesn’t only occur with those newly added shader files but also with the shader files extracted on setup.

To the point:

Is this a common problem?
Is there a fix (updated shader files)?

hello there familiar face and name person…!

This problems only seems to a few people editing for RtCW where very few of the textures show… I’m one of these as well and the only permanant solution to this was to literally unpack ALL the game media into the the RtCW directory. Did that and haven’t had any probs since.

The shaders for RTCW where never cleaned up and have alot of redundant stuff lying around. The MD3 models are equally as bad with texture path names missing.

There are various packs around the net with cleaned up shaders and models. Unfortunately people have sort of clean up models as when they need them. I recommend you look at NPherno for model/shader issues. You can get it from the link below.

OK…
Although unpacking all media seems such a filthy hack, I’m gonna do just that.

About the models:

At this point, I’m happy to be able to view RTCW-models in Radiant at all with this setup because when I first tried RTCW-editing with 1.3.6_dev I wasn’t able to visualise models (other than a small default bounding box) after adding them.
(Or selecting them without using the selecting tools, for that matter.)

Quite possibly some ignorance/uncarefulness on my part there, though.

Will fiddle about with model viewers to check if the model textures are OK.

Thanks :drink:
