Missing lightmaps

Anyone know why this is happening?


The screenshot was taken with “r_lightmap 1” set. None of the buildings are textured with shaders, it’s simply textures.

I’m using the experimental version of q3map2 that lets you do the new dotproduct math (version 2.5.12). Is this something unique to 2.5.12? I’ve never noticed this happening before.

EDIT: BTW, here’s my light compile arguments:
-light -v -fast -patchshadows -super 2 -filter -bounce 8 -external -lightmapsize 256 -approx 4

It’s -approx.

The -approx switch sets the tolerance Q3Map2 uses to turn lightmapped surfaces into vertex lit surfaces.

As they have no lightmap, they show up with only their textured pass.

Ah, I recently added -approx to my compiles, so that makes sense. So the surfaces that -approx 4 skips probably wouldn’t benefit from being lightmapped, therefore the value is a smaller pk3 file. Cool.
