misc_model question

In Jedi Knight 2: Multiplayer we have a very odd problem - we have a misc_model limit of 250. GTKRadiant probably has a much higher limit and combined with Q3Map2 supports a wider array of formats for misc_models.

Since there wasn’t any engine modification, I’m assuming that the models are actually added to the BSP as non-vis blocking ‘stuff’, seeing as how we can lightmap them, do crazy effects like fur on them, et cetera …

Are these misc_models actually entities by the time they reach the game, or are they just being ‘drawn’?

If they are just ‘drawn’ then that would be cool - as you can imagine, star wars based models can be cool for adding atmosphere to a star wars game.

misc_model surfaces are compiled into the BSP, and if you’re using Q3Map 2.3.38 or later, stripped out of the entity list. There is no limit to the number of misc_models you can have in a map other than the limited size of the entity text.

“limited size of the entity text” - hmmm… what is that?

Oh - entity text - referring to the .map file?
