This is only a small complaint but is there different animations when we are gunned down and waiting to be healed or do we all do the same agonizing animation over and over…yeah i know it’s a small thing but just something that bugs me.
minor thing wounded soldiers animation
This has been badgered to death. People saying that the game needs ragdoll animations and so forth.
It’s no worse then enemy territory and that’s a game that people have played for a long time. Even if not on a blockbuster scale. The animation serves it’s purpose and if it could look any cooler I’m sure it would.
im sure their the same but me personaly i dont care because i wont even notice this when i play
Say if i was a medic ill just throw them a syring and then go
i don’t think rag doll physics is the answer but a few different downed animations would be nice
I dont see why they dont make ragdolls, team fortress 2 style…it brings game to a whole new level of greatness
True but is it necessary? I dont think people are just goin to stand their staring at someone whos downed their just going to carry on with the game so really it wouldnt be that noticable anyway… well thats my opinion
Because when you’re downed you need to be able to take advantage of incapacitation which is a WHOLE part of the game. Play Quake Wars so you can understand how a splash damage game works before you complain about the downed animation. You’re waiting on a medic. And not in the same style as BC2 where you just get revived out of the blue and you’re like WTF!!! WHERE AM I!? and usually get gunned down immediately. It’s not about how it looks but how it plays bro.
<sigh>
Referencing older games as justification for not including new technology is pretty flawed. Why not also leave the old gfx engine in and make the game play on more systems too? Oh yeah, because eye candy and looking nice is what people expect.
Inclusion of ragdoll does not mean incap has to be removed. GTA IV does a great job and blending ragdoll with animation.
Now wasting CPU/network on ragdoll where it can be better spent elsewhere I will not disagree with but lets stop the weak excuses of it can’t be done.
And all that said, some additional animations based on damage, approximate physics, generally some variation would have been a good halfway point. Not crying, it’s not the end of the world but I do think it looks unpolished.

Yeah, I just saw a few people talk about it then i took notice to it as well it’s not a big deal but to some people it can become an annoyance without some variation and could possibly look kind of lazy once you see the same animation repeat itself after awhile, no big deal though i’ll still love this game to death.
Do weapon reloads bug you too? Seeing the same reload everytime? What about running and the gun bounces… does that animation bug you too? I’m just kidding. :3 Kinda… (BAD reload animations bug the crap out of me).
On a serious note: It’s probably the same, from what I’ve seen… but who cares? If your playing the game, I highly doubt you’ll notice it, and it’s a good thing there’s only 1 animation for a wounded soldier, because what if there were many? And some of them had little movement? Then you wouldn’t be able to tell if their dead or alive (aside from the HUD if your a medic).
Why would they create an ineffective incap animation? I’m sure there are easily 10 variations that are both visually distinctive and could represent a localised point of damage. Likewise for the actual take down animations.
Am I the only one who fails to see the importance of these animations ?
I could see some relevance in an epic frag movie, but I’d never notice in game

I don’t see why it’s important either. As stated earlier they have ragdollls for the fully dead. Not those undead incapped people
Ragdolls would make it difficult to do the incapped animation because ragdolls like GTA, RDR and BFBC2 take the bodies to places sometimes unreachable by a medic. It would be really annoying if you were grenade launchered (i think i invented a word?) and the ragdoll brought you into an area swarming with enemies…
Minor thing indeed.
I’d be more worried about repetition when it comes to auto-messages when enemies are spotted or when youre low on ammo etc…
Nobody is saying it’s important, just that it looks a bit janky. I’m sure people will be equally critical of sloppy character animation and glitches. Surely given a choice between a variety of animations or exactly the same one you’d pick the former?
This is tired and incorrect. Wolfire did this, its rough by their own admission but debunks the “Ragdolls look dumb” chant. Some ragdoll blending on some stock incap animations would add a lot of variety to the game’s visual appeal.
Again I’ll say that I accept time and resources (CPU/GPU/NETWORK) may account for the decision but I find it hard to believe SD stuck with this animation because they either thought it looked great or because they were incapable of doing better.
