Mines and heartbeat sensors taking several shots to destroy?

(Press E) #1

I’ve noticed lately that heartbeat sensors and mines occasionally won’t register shots. It’s totally random and I can’t seem to replicate it either. At first I thought it was just weird geometry, but I’ve only noticed this recently and it even happens on older maps. My internet has been fine every time it happened too.

Moving to a different angle still lets you destroy them, but it’s pretty annoying wasting time on a mine that won’t die. Has anyone else noticed this?

I’ve noticed this, as well as the fact that they, for some reason, increased the HP of snitches/heartbeat sensors/mines so that most weapons take more than one shot to destroy them. I’m fairly sure the snitch/heartbeat sensor have 15hp now, which means the only automatic weapon that can even get them in one shot are the k121, blishlok, and shar-c. most non-machine pistol secondaries can do it though.

Not sure about mine HP but i know their hitboxes can be really wonky. This is a bit old but you can see an example here xD https://youtu.be/wzu8zY8b87g?t=1m36s

Even worse, you are no more able to destroy stickies, sensor, snitch etc in the air xD

I’m pretty sure I’ve been able to take them out with a single timik shot, which is only 14 damage. I’ll have to test it out later though.
Not sure why they’d want to increase the HP, at least for bullets. They’re all so small it’s not like random stray shots are really an issue. If someone sees one it’s going down, making it take slightly longer is just boring.

On another note I’ve also had a lot of trouble trying to melee heartbeat sensors where it’s never been an issue before. Even as someone short like aura I have to actually crouch down to hit it, and even then sometimes it doesn’t do anything

Before there was the heartbeat sensor bug where it could block you from even stepping exactly over it and it would push you to the left or the right. (I think that was the patch that broke it entirely, where you can’t destroy it easily anymore)

After they fixed that bug, you can’t step on it to destroy it anymore, but it doesn’t push you away. So I guess that is a bug with the hitbox because you’re having difficulty even meleeing to destroy it in crouch range.

So…

deployables are now showing that shot registration is an issue…

This net-code client-to-server shot-hit verification thing really needs fixing. RTFN!!!

It happened to me recently with the SNITCH, tho it doesn’t occur each time : I shot three pistol bullets on it, I had the red trails indicating that I hit but the thing was still alive. Another player shot at it and destroyed it.

Mines taking multiple shots to be destroyed, I am somewhat fine with that : those are supposed to be area denial tools but they do quite a poor job at being area denial (while being frustratingly useful as a cheese tool). HB sensor taking multiple shots to be destroyed however is another story. That crap is already hard enough to find.

Anyway, it sounds like yet another bug in the spaghetti code ocean that is DB.

Seems similar to the invincible heartbeat sensor bug they had a while back.

Like I said, if any decent player spots a mine, they’re gonna destroy it whether it takes more than one shot or not. And because of the very nature of them being traps, when they’re used as such they generally won’t be near other enemies to make a longer time-to-destroy even matter. Giving things like the drone or medstation high HP means enemies can shoot at you while you try to destroy it, but that doesn’t work for something that’s rarely used near enemies for the context you’re talking about.
Besides explosives, random lucky shots also aren’t an issue for such a small deployable. It doesn’t really buff them so much as it makes them more annoying, and there are better ways to buff mines besides HP.
Not to mention taking multiple shots to destroy it means it would be harder to reliably kill an enemy with their own mine, which is a feature that exists to punish a bad proxy.

You just have to be smart about where you place your mines, but they can still be very effective traps. She’s not supposed to be stoker, and buffing her to be better in area denial would just unnecessarily slow down the game even more
