Min 20 servers don't mean Anything

(Xenithos) #1

Okay, so, I’ve never made a post about this, but am I the only one that’s noticed there are a lot of players above level 20, and certainly many above level 40 and 60 that just don’t understand how to play the game? It’s like they were raised on walk in the open and pew pew at the wall and you will shine! I’ve seen low level players, players between level 4-15 outscore players that are above level 50 many times it hurts. Sometimes it’s because they’re the only medic, sometimes they learn how to throw ammo that match, and sometimes it’s just because some of the higher levels in this game simply suck.

I’m not trying to be a pessimist, but the amount of players that are above level 20 in this game that DONT bother trying to do teamwork, and play classes that contribute nothing means that it’s unlikely there will be much improvement in higher level locked servers. If you really need an example, log into an NA server and just pay attention to the ScoreGapTM. It baffles me that anyone can play Phoenix and bottom score when you’re in a match the entire time.

You aren’t the only one that noticed. It’s why I don’t really push min high level servers. Once you get above 20, nobody wants to play as a team in casual anymore. People are just there to meme and do whatever they want.

But I do feel that MAX level low servers are important. I feel like there needs to be MAX level 15 servers that you have to play on until 15 at least. I know that means cutting off access to some games in lieu of low level players… but honestly, there’s so many smurfs and random new people that it seems fine. Once you hit 15, you get to play with the big boys.

Then again, I guess the ranking was changed at a 5:1 rate? So I suppose max level 15 with the old levels would be max level 75 with the new levels.

Your level is basically the amount of experience you have with the game, meaning you generally have a better feel for how to do well. High level players can still suck, they can still have off days, they can play a merc they’re not used to, there’s a lot that goes into performance. But in general, higher level players tend to be better.

Yeah, there are a lot of variations in skill, but on average, levels are a good way to judge what to expect from a player. Max/min level servers aren’t flawless, but I definitely wouldn’t say they’re meaningless.

One of the main features back in the days of min level 20 servers was that most people who went there to have a good and challenging game. So if some dimwit decided to pull a 3/27 Vassili or have prolonged phone conversations, he got kicked because everybody on the server could find the PgUp key on their keyboard.

Let’s hope this is still the case.

Leveling up 5x faster? Still remember?
Afaik 1-12 was ~exponential, so take it out of the equation. After this, comes the linear shit, what probably relates to nowadays lvl 20 means at least lvl 50 after the change?!
So plx change topic to “Min 60 servers don’t mean Anything”

K, thx, bye.

Btw. Nice assassination.

Uh, wait, you say, there should be “Min-Lvl 305” servers, now? :stuck_out_tongue:

I mean I am by no means some expert veteran…but I’ve seen people above level 100 have to resort to cheap tactics or just plain suck.

Level really doesn’t mean much…especially when smurfing is common enough.

What teflonlove said.

A poor lvl20+ is guaranteed to stick away from minlvl20, even minlvl10 servers, on account of not wanting to get it handed to them (no, not a victory)

The level 60 players who are as bad as a level 5 are generally bad enough to not even know about min level servers.

Well, you say that, but I remember some very special experiences.

They’re not particularly common though, so it’s really not that bad

Most server browser games I’ve joined in the past 4 months have had a rare one or two players under level 20. Most players in them are 40+

And yes, most games are a special experience, with lots of really bad players, lots of good players, no team cooperation, no team organization, and no real reflection of the player’s levels.

Min level 20 servers are whatever

Max level 15 is the way to go. You still keep lower level players together instead of mixing them in with more experienced players.

The point isn’t that min level 20 servers have better players looking for more competitive games

It’s that low level players who don’t really know how to play yet can’t join them

As a side note, don’t let min level servers available through quick join. Strangely, on the AIE server, the fact that the server name and size of the server tend to distract scrubs away, at least to some extent.

Exactly I had a blast on this server most of the instances I played there. We need community servers more than ever now.
