My gamestop in silverdale,wa is not having a midnight release. I could go and pick it up at midnight from wal mart, but I want to support Gamestop’s global domination and get my DOOM pack.

Not really. GameStop is like Blockbuster Video was in 1998. If any of the next-gen consoles go with a primarily direct download model for obtaining games and it succeeds, GameStops will drop like so many flies.

That’s a big if. The video game industry relies on so many different retailers for sales. Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Target, Amazon.com. These are just a few of the Behemoth retailers that help spread the word about new games and help advertise and hype the video game industry. If any major console decides to go exclusively to Direct Download for games, they aren’t just writing off gamestop, they would be losing out on big bucks from many major retailers.

personaly, I hate direct download games. I feel if i dont have a hard copy, i could lose it at any time.

Whelp I can safely say that I will enjoy watching that timer on Steam get lower. And lower. And lower until it says 00:00:00.
