Middle Objective for Underground

Every map has 3 objectives…

  • Chapel: Repair the E.V., Escort the E.V., Deliver the objective.
  • Bridge: Repair the E.V., Escort the E.V., Deliver the objective.
  • Dome: Deliver the objective, Destroy a pylon, Destroy the AAA Command Centre
  • Terminal: Destroy the containment wall, Destroy the Shipping containers
  • Trainyard: Destroy the track controls, Blow over the blocker carriage, Deliver the objective

Except for Underground, which only gets 2 objectives. TECHNICALLY it has 3:

  1. Destroy the extractor fan controls
  2. Fight your way down the escalators
  3. Destroy the pump controls

But the thing is, it only ACTUALLY has 2. There is no actual objective that you can complete for “Fight your way down the escalators.” You have more time to complete the first objective, and get more time from completing the first.
Here’s my suggestion: Use the “Capture” feature (used on Terminal for capturing forward spawn) to make an actual middle objective that the attacking team has to cap. I was thinking that we could put it around the elevator entrance on the middle level.
What do you guys think? Please let me know!

Seems pretty interesting but I’m not exactly sure how the map would play out. It might end up a lot of tweaking to the map structure so that place is a viable place to fight.

Remove the roofing around that entire area and sounds good, makes fire supports important on that part of the map and last objective Kira laser defense :stuck_out_tongue:

I feel like in-order for there to be a middle objective in Underground, they would have to rework the map. There isn’t really anything between planting the two C4s that could be a viable “middle objective.”

Maybe make the two tunnels a bit longer? Make there only be one tunnel? I don’t really know, to be honest, but I would really enjoy a middle objective in Underground. It feels too short for me.

Would you mind telling me what you mean by “tunnels?” because I’m not sure if you mean the ways to get to the last objective, or the way to get past the elevator, or what…

The tunnel with the generator for the barriers, and the tunnel with the toxic gas.

A mid objective might give the defenders a better idea when and why the attackers’ spawn suddenly gets moved right inbetween their line of defense, though.

How about a Terminal like forward spawn capture point in that big room with the generator for the ice tunnel right down the escalators. Put some more cover in there and make the upper part that looks down to this room more available for the defenders. If they take the forward spawn they spawn right up the escalators.

I like the idea, but I feel like that would be too easy to control. I think that maybe when the gates close, the attackers could get forward spawn at the bottom of the elevator could work.

No, it doesn’t. The second and third objective have to specific order, and can be completed simultaneously. Sure, it’s technically 2, but it’s better than Underground.

Kinda wish they’d bring back a flag bump capture mechanic in some places. There was so much energy behind those in ET.

Technically objective 1.5 shows that there are certain forward spawns for both teams regarding the second objective. Attackers start spawning right next to the neutral generator once the first objective is destroyed, and later spawn right next to the elevator. Defenders start spawning in the middle attacker path for Obj. 2 and later spawn behind that objective.

So, the capture point for that area might be the attackers’ new spawn, but I think I’m just guessing here.

I think that there’s also a similar situation with Terminal.
