Me and my mate noticed that we both and many other players sound really quiet while using the in-game VOIP. I know it works fine for some people. The in-game option don’t offer any way to test it or change the mic volume level. As my bug report hasn’t attracted any response or advice, is there anyone in the community which had that problem and knows the solution?
Microphone volume problems - any known fix
I’ve found they were so loud I had to permanently disable them in options. My master volume is at 1%, I had the VOIP set almost to 1% as well, so loud it bursts my ear drums. It had to go, I was sick of muting everyone every game.
Unfortunately now I can’t mute people to stop them spamming taunts, why the mute function is disabled when voip is disabled I don’t know. Why bother putting that code in there, it won’t hurt anything to toggle it even if voip is off.
EDIT: Also there is a voip volume slider, it’s at the bottom of Game under “Receive Volume”, doesn’t work though.
Thanks for the extra details. I hope fixing that is fairly high on the priority list, how are you suppose to cooperate if the VOIP system doesn’t work?
Eh, VOIP is overrated, at least for public and matchmade games. ‘Professional’ games are different, and that’s what Teamspeak is for.
Have a look at LoL, biggest match making game around and it doesn’t suffer from not having VoiP, it doesn’t need it. Because players are able to coordinate with each other just by seeing what each of them is doing. The same is true here, if you see your ally moving up one side alone, you go help and cover him. If you see he already has cover you attack somewhere else. There’s really no need to talk about it tbh. If you want to ‘plan’ your attack, text chat works just fine if you organise it before rushing in.
I just hate hearing unnecessary chatter, and VoiP tends to become that.

I agree for pubs it’s unnecessary but even for matchmaking it’s really useful. I’d much rather have the option to mute annoying players (including text messages and taunts) and have VoIP than not have it at all.
