Wil there be something like this?
Metagame?
I guess strats might develop overtime, its hard to say… every other game has it, this might be trying to move out in new and interesting directions.
imagine it, you never get better, you never change how you play, the outcome is based on getting lucky as to who is on your team.
sounds fantastic.
Halo 3’s campaign features a scoring method called the “meta-game”, which can introduce a competitive aspect to cooperative play. Players are awarded points for defeating enemies while completing a level in the campaign. Extra points are awarded for certain actions (such as performing headshots or defeating multiple enemies in rapid succession), and are lost if the player dies or kills a teammate.
would be fun if that could be introduced again. et pro had that kind of thing. i enjoyed the “… really gets his ass kicked”, “… is on a killing spree”, “… is godlike” etc messages
I don’t want to go off topic, but those features were not added by ETPRO, for W:ET they were first added in fortymod and later on in ETAdmin mod which was a tool which could be used alongside with mods like ETPRO, afaik the first game which features killing spree’s was one of the Unreal Tournaments, for which a lot of mods also ripped the sounds :). Other mods featuring killing spree tracking include Whaleclient, ETPub and Jaymod.
On topic, the entire mission system ET:QW sported and BRINK will (hopefully) be improving upon, which means there will always be a main mission combined with several sub missions (which in my opinion form metagames)
We don’t explicitly call it ‘meta-game’ (which can have all sorts of lovely philosophical connotations), but the scoring system is definitely designed with high replayability in mind.
After all, we need to know who’s tops in the office when we play!

Are you guys also considering the use of dedicated leaderboards? Which will show really specific stats. Such as wins(ratio), kills(ratio)(each weapon). That you can track and compare with your friends?
-
Also a good idea(question) might be awards or medals for completing like 1000 kills with a shotgun as something achievable within the game but not for gamerscore such as real achievements and trophies. It would be amazing if you get like additional customisation options.

Will there be character customisation?
lol Each time i was asking a question i thought of another question… :stroggtapir:
Axilo you might want to take a look at ETQW (SDs last game) or specifically http://stats.enemyterritory.com/ While there is no assurance that SD will choose to do a similar thing in Brink I think the stuff you’re asking about is firmly within their realm of experience.
My personal view was that the public stats in ETQW skewed gameplay or at least encourage the creation of another type of player more concerned with themselves than the success of the team. I’d much rather public stats were generic, nameless leaderboards and more detailed stats were linked to your personal profile only (similar to steam). Seems like a happy medium to me but hey I expect I’m in a minority here again.
I believe you can customise characters fully with provided in-game assets. Question is open whether there will be a level of customisation with user created assets. I hope so.
I don’t like stats, i don’t hate stats… what i do hate is the people that like to tell the whole world that they like/hate stats and berate others that think the opposite.

Persistent character/player stats I don’t like[/QUOTE]
That, TF2 did it allot better. All these quantitative stats only say something about how much you’ve played the game and not really how you’ve played the game.
