Could there be an ability at the half way point of a stopwatch match to have a team vote to invoke the “mercy” rule and lose the match? Tonight I had a mission to play 3 stopwatch matches. I avoid Stopwatch because they are long and usually unbalanced. The first two games were “okay” but the last was a perfect example of everything wrong in Stopwatch. We were the attacking team first and it quickly became apparent that we were losing badly. Members of our team kept dropping until there were only 3 of us. The other team had 8. They spawncamped us continuously for the last 6 minutes of the game, setting up a turret, putting down mines and sticky bombs to insta kill us everytime we spawned. Finally the half ended. We started the match and once again they proceeded to spawncamp us rather than finish the objective. Finally one player must have gotten bored and actually completed the objective over the howls of their teammates. This was a perfect example of everything wrong with stopwatch in my opinion and I think this would have at least alleviated having to spend another 7 minutes with these sociopaths.
Mercy rule in Stopwatch
Yea, sometimes your team is just full of buffoons and have no idea what they are doing, literally. It would be nice to have a forfeit or mercy thing if you are obviously losing and just wanna stop.
I generally don’t have this problem in Objective because if you don’t finish the objective in a certain time, you lose anyway. In stopwatch the whole match just ticks by until the other teams turn and it’s obvious you’ve lost. I’ve seen in Objective where you can tell at the last moment the other team has pulled back to let the game continue. Sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn’t as by that point most people are hunkered down. I’ve heard people complain on public chat “C’mon finish the objective so we can continue” so they can continue to rack up the score. In SW they don’t have to worry about that. I actually find the Stopwatch matches much nastier than the Objective ones.
I wouldn’t mind this, it would get my daily SW match over with faster so I can get back to objective. I’m tired of joining halfway through the first half into a 2v7 and getting spawn camped for the next 5 minutes. I just want my 500 credits, dang it!
They also need to make it so if all players of the team leaves, it ends the game…
I can’t tell you how many times this has happened, and we had to sit around for 10 minutes doing nothing

You didn’t sit around the spawn waiting for unlucky players to join and immediately get killed? Do you actually play Dirty Bomb?
Personally a mercy rule (surrender function if you will) would be a great addition to any and all gamemodes, especially competitive. My most common experience in Comp play is playing a game where our team just becomes slaughtered over and over by a superior and higher ranked team (not that rank really has anything to do with the matter, just making a point). A surrender function would greatly help in these situations and prevent prolonged and nonsensical games that just make you want to throw your keyboard out your window.

I’m talking about competitive. Randoms don’t join in, once everyone leaves, its us sitting around with our thumb up our buttocks

Actually I wouldn’t mind that. I never really get to “wander around” a map. I’ve found a few hidden spots, but mostly because people have ambushed me from them. I can understand if you don’t want to be there though it would be annoying.

Sometimes, karma strikes spawncampers
I just queue for competitive when I want to play stopwatch.
It might just be because I’m in gold, but the only time I’ve ever been in an unbalanced game to the extend people describe in this thread was when the opposite team had 3 guys on teamspeak (same clan tags)
Some kind of mercy rule is needed, I just quit a game since we had a hacker on our side just as boring as being against one.
So I bit the bullet and just left the game, now ive got a 30 minute ban which has punished the other 3 people I was queuing with since now we cant play together.
Instead of a surrender option maybe a void match option via vote if 6+ people vote to abandon the match it gets voided so no one gains from the match, this would screw any script kiddies buzz. It would also stop it being abused by the losing side if it required 6+ votes.

It’s because your in gold.
It might be a good idea, but honestly I don’t think it would.
Just had a match where we were defenders first- it was a hard defense and the enemy team stomped us pretty fast.
Once we started attacking, we were getting stomped- but I went and repaired the EV while not being seen by the enemy- after repairing it I encouraged my team to push it, we ended up pushing it- still a little behind. Most of the enemies were alive so I grabbed the EMP and delivered it as soon as I could. With about a minute remaining, a teammate got the last EMP in. This was on Chapel, of course.
We honestly thought we had lost, but then by luck we had won. The few of us who didn’t leave because we thought the game was already over at half time ended up winning the game.
Recently i have struggled to have fun in stopwatch, i really enjoy the gamemode but balancing changes need to be made as i have played rounds on bridge when the teams are so unbalanced that they won in under 5mins and we were spawn camped the entire time.
I love this game but some serious changes need to be made and i have almost started to hate the dirty bomb community because even though they are spawn camping and know full well that is unbalanced, they will vote no for a scramble (that isn’t all people some are nice ;).
