Mercs most in need of a buff?

Thought I’d like to talk about buffs in general. Obvious things I think are Phantom and Guardian, both are just a little lacking to really feel competitive.

What would you suggest?

I think Guardian could use a little more offensiveness to really distinguish her from other medics. Maybe her drone destroys enemy deployables? This would give her purpose in pushing as well as defending.

Phantom is trickier but I think he should spot enemies within his field And/Or perhaps be able to drop an explosive without unveiling.

What do you think?

Overall I think that mercs should be powerful so the game is fast and intense, as long as active decisions are the focus of gameplay as they currently are. Which is why I love DB. Much

Obligatory Phantom mention.
At this point it’s a meme.

Already suggested separating EMP from RF and buffing it, so you can attack, without turning EMP field off. Probably the laziest way you can buff him.

That sounds good, I also liked someone else’s idea to make phantoms RF last longer the less you move. Could be interesting.

As I have mentioned in numerous discussions before I’m afraid there is always going to be a defined meta if you want to be competitive.
Sawbonez, Fragger and Arty will always overshadow the rest of her class.
I mean when was the last time you saw a Thunder and Stoker in ranked.
But as for actual buffs besides the obvious candidates like Guardian and Phantom (btw great ideas by @rotermax1 for Phantom)
I would like to see a buff for Phoenix and Thunder so that they could become viable alternatives to the Tryhard Fragg-bonez combo.

I personaly think that merc not only need to be viable, but fun to play. That’s why I think seperating abillites for Phantom (like @TheStrangerous suggested) or any direct buffs to, right now, not viable mercs don’t work that well. Making a character fun and viable at the same time is not easy, so why don’t we just think of why the Mercs are not viable and not how they need to be buffed to be viable. The weaknesses e.g. Phantom’s are not that his abillitys beeing to weak, but that his current playstyle is not the intended one. (That’s why I also think the the idea mentioned by @Theatrum is a more useful). The same goes for Mercs like Guardian or Thunder who are just having issues fitting in the game and just buffing them into heavens won’t do anything to the fun or usefulness of the Merc.
(This is only my personal opinion)
