Mercs determine rank

Am I the only one that thinks instead of using levels to determine what rank of people are on the servers you play, they should use the number of mercs you have? B’c someone can only be a level 2 and have purchased one or al the mercs. And lets face it; some mercs are WAY better than other mercs. Its just frustrating and unfair to be going against Kiras and Phantoms when all you have are the default mercs. :confused:

Please, give me some examples. What mercs do you think are flat out 100% better than other mercs? I’m not saying anything one way or the other. just curious.

Just because somebody has more mercs doesn’t mean that they’re instantly better than other players. Besides, what if some person started playing, loved the game instantly, and bought the starter pack? Would they be matched against level 10s who bought 5 mercs with credits?

Skyhammer is top tier and he’s free.

Skyhammer is by far the best EV destruction fire support in the game, and is fairly tanky too, with access to some of the best guns.

Phantoms a trashy character, and Kira is situational at best.

Skyhammer is the best, with some of the best weapons, good health, and very powerful ability.

Aura is also one of the best mercs, the health station heals almost instantly and can mean the difference in a fight…

What about the 3 free mercs you get every rotation?

Just throwing this here completely unrelated: There should be a third default merc with the engineer passive skill. Maybe Turtle?

Anyway.

Skyhammer is the best fire support currently in the game.

I would rather it be Proxy. She’s the least useful at high level play at the moment but very capable of pub stomping due to her speed and shotguns.

But yeah, Skyhammer is as good as any merc out there, aura is great against new players, and the three free rotation mercs make this idea in the OP…bad.

It should be a combo of factors:

  • Total playtime
  • Mercs available
  • Level
  • Comp rating (if available)
  • K/D ratio (I’m sure this stuff is tracked even in non-comp games)

Trying to just force people into matches based only on a single factor is a really REALLY bad idea. You need to look at the whole picture.
