[Merc + Weapons] Yeti

(gg2ez) #1

“Careful, you’re walking on thin ice”.

Fire Support, 130HP, 390SP.

Bio - Explorer and military scientist, codenamed Yeti, spent his occupational time in the Himalayas doing what most people would consider ridiculous. His morning jog was less of a stroll on the sidewalk and more of a treacherous hike upwards through the arduous conditions of the K2 mountain. Yeti’s mountain research facility is also responsible for outsourcing experimental weaponry to the British Military and brought in enough profit to fund Yeti’s adventurous behavior, however, when the Dirty Bomb conflicts destroyed London the British economy fell so badly that they could no longer afford to pay for Yeti’s gadgets. Yeti needed to find a new source of income that would put his unique skills to use so he chose to become a mercenary in the DB conflicts himself.

Primary Ability - Freeze Grenade

 • The Freeze Grenade is a throwable device that can be cooked but also explodes on impact. It has a fuse time of 3 seconds before it explodes but may be detonated earlier if the grenade hits a surface. The effects of the explosion differ depending on when and where the grenade detonates.
• Midair Detonation: The Freeze Grenade spills liquid nitrogen cloud on the ground. An enemy merc can stand within the liquid nitrogen cloud for 1 second until they start experiencing the effect of the liquid nitrogen. After the initial 1 second within the liquid nitrogen, an enemy merc standing within it will be dealt “x” amount of seconds multiplied by 20. For example, on the 1st second, a merc standing within the liquid nitrogen will receive 20 DMG, on the 2nd second, a merc standing in it will receive 40 DMG, and so on, so forth. The liquid nitrogen cloud will decease after 10 seconds.
 • Surface Detonation: The Freeze Grenade sends a knee-high column of dry ice rocketing forwards from it’s explosion area. Anybody hit by the column of ice upon formation will be dealt 50 DMG. Anybody stupid enough to stay in contact with the dry ice (standing on it, against it, ect) will receive cryogenic burns after the first second of contact. Cryogenic burns deal an initial 10 DMG per second and makes the victim 20% more vulnerable to damage for 2 seconds. If a merc stands on the ice, they no longer have any movement control and will slide forwards in accordance to the momentum they gained before being on ice.
Freeze Grenades have a cooldown of 30 seconds, 2 can be carried at once.

Secondary Ability - Mobile Ammo Dispenser

 • The Mobile Ammo Dispenser automatically gives ammo to nearby teammates at the same rate an Ammo Station does. Yeti can still use [E] to resupply himself, however, there is a 15 second self-resupply cooldown.

Notes
Yeti is a tanky fire support. He’s meant for staying alive to keep his team resupplied on the front lines - he excels in close combat, especially with his new weapon: The Akula MG.

The Akula MG is stronger than all other assault rifles in terms of DPS, however, it is not without it’s weaknesses. The Akula MG has an effective range of only 18m essentially making it only useful in close quarters.

His grenades offer a decent amount of damage and area denial and works especially well with the Akula if you can force an opponent into a pool of liquid nitrogen.
well. a cryo nade weapon in general that doesnt freeze people in place. that’s new. it reminds me of the mollie in that it makes a little area impossible to pass without getting damaged, but the extra effects are interesting.
my question is why choose this over stroker?

Different weapons, different area denial. No reason to choose this over Stoker and there’s no reason to choose Stoker over it. Just an alternative I guess.

Yeti’s area denial spans out over a wider area but has a more forgiving damage to area ratio. Yeti also doesn’t get misspelled as much

stroker’s my personal nickname for stoker. someone misspelled him one stream and i guess i liked it. enough to use it in place of the correct spelling, at least.
