Merc vs Merc Event Idea

I just got this idea, after reminding myself, how in TF2 there used to be major updates, with 2 rival classes dueling each other.

How it would go in DB? Well, 2 similar mercs fight each other, and depending on which side you choose and play more, each merc would grant access to exclusive skin (just no competition for 1 reward, you remember how ReV event went, didn’t you?).

Examples:

Sniper Wars- Vassili vs Aimee

Swagger Duel- Kira vs Phantom

Explosive Spammers Dookie Tennis- Fletcher vs Fragger

Surgeon Massacre- Phoenix vs Sawbones

If it goes 3 way duel, then sure, why not?

3 similar mercs against each other may even be better. Or even 4 similar mercs against each other (recon battle, assault battle, medic battle, engineer battle, fire support battle), but maybe after Turtle’s released.

not sure it makes much sense, aura would kill any other medic easily, fragger would destroy any other assault, redeye would kill any other recon and maybe there would be a fight between bush and fletcher.

There should be some sort of merc event that would change the meta, just like how the Soldier v Demo gave Soldier the Gunboats which made him a really efficient roamer in competitive play.
Maybe Fragger vs Thunder and the winner would get the other merc’s LMG?

Not that I want to single out new players, but this would mean any Merc vs Aura/Skyhammer would be pointless… considering most new players (even I still play Aura - No matter how painfully OP she is in defence situations) will have these in their squads. Either you have to make it limited to a certain rank or above for hours to count, or exclude these two mercs, from any merc v merc, because it would be an outright stomp imo.

Personally If you want to do more merc V other merc events, it should go more along the lines of who you played with more during the event, giving everyone the skin they’d want. well everyone a card for that merc (I dont mind the 1/9 bs tbh - don’t bring the card bring the player ;)) … You might then ask well whats the point of having an event where it doesn’t matter who wins, well to that I oppose by adding trinkets as a reward. Maybe you get a trinket of the merc that wins. (would love to see my lil kira face on my gun >:D) that way its not something that could be …well kinda game changing.

Will Javelin ever be released…? I don’t think SD is going to break out of this 4 mercs and 5 classes format, indicating that Turtle might be the last merc to be released.

I don’t care how many Mercs will get released, long as they’re useful and not gimmicky, I’m fine.

They confirmed that “Aimee and Turtle are not the last” in a stream a while back.
