Merc to buy!

(Necabo) #1

Hey all, I have currently 50,000 credits (not alot to you pros, but still alot to me) and I wanted to know which si the best merc? I know that statement is very broad as each merc has its own role to play in a team. Im talking about which merc would be good so that after i have put (example 100 hours) playtime into the soecific merc, i will truly be considered good at playing with this merc. I understand that sime merec have quite a steep learning curve, but i have heard that once you reach that learning curve playing with that merc becomse considerably easier. Hope this all makes sense. All im trying to find is a merc that in1 years time I will still be playing!

Stoker, Phoenix, Arty, Sparks. at 100 hours on any of those, you should be able to carry teams

Thanks for the insight, see I’m confused now. From those you listed I have heard people say their good. I just see and hear a lot of others say that fletcher or sawbonez are the best too… I’m a little confused sorry.

Fletcher has a very high skill floor, which is why he wasn’t mentioned. I’m not sure why he didn’t mention Sawbonez, though. He’s a great all around medic while Phoenix is super aggressive with limited healing capability compared to others and Sparks also has a relatively high skill ceiling.

I’d go with Bushwhacker as a first engineer because of how straightforward he is.

Fragger is a pretty good class to buy as well

He’s very simple to play and is able to take down opponents very easily with his grenades

He was the first merc that I bought and I am still loving and playing him everyday <3

@Paradoxically
Ok, Soz I already bought the other tho

I prefer Fragger.

@Necabo it all depends on your playstyle. There are 5 types of mercs:

Assault - made to kill, kill and also kill:

 • Fragger
 • Nader
 • Thunder
 • Rhino

Engineers - made to primarily do the objectives with their increased engineering speeds:
[] Bushwhacker
[
] Proxy

Fletcher
Fire support - these guys use their abilities to get support from the skies or from… fire pun city:

 • Skyhammer
 • Kira
 • Arty
 • Stoker

Medics - made primarily to heal and revive other players:

 • Pheonix
 • Aura
 • Sparks
 • Sawbonez

Recon - made for snaking and sniping:

 • Phantom
 • Red Eye
 • Vassili

It all depends on what you prefer in terms of gameplay. If you want to kill then go for either Fire Support mercs or Assault mercs which are made for that reason. Please don’t be a medic or engineer and run around ignoring downed teammates or the objective.

According to what you said, you just want a sexy merc that you can be sexy at playing in 100 hours. I know you already bought your mercs but maybe this would help for later.

I think your fletcher would be extremely helpful as soon as you realise that his sticky bombs are his primary weapon or the snaky thing you put under C4s to prevent disarming. My tip for fletcher is to assign one key to be your throw and after a second explode (I can do that on my gaming mouse, maybe you can too idk) so that you press 1 button and you basically now have nader but more helpful in different situations. I don’t have all the mercs obviously but what I do know is that Sparks, as annoying as her crusty revive gun is, takes a while to get used to, but when you become good with her, she’s a very good merc. Other mercs that take long to get good at but are so good when you do in my opinion include Vassili (when you learn headshots with the MOA (I think thats what it’s called)) and Phantom (when you learn where and how to be invisible at the best times and so fourth).

Moreover, I think that learning to be good with shotguns is a learning curve of itself. Shotguns are so good in this game when you can aim, and Proxy, Aura and Fletcher all do so well with them, especially the 2 females as they are fast as shit.

Hope that helps! Probably didn’t but oh well

Fix’d.
Phantom is assault merc. Deal with it.
