Merc test driving map

(incredibleHoneydew) #1

I was just wondering: Does anybody else miss a map to just “test drive” a merc? Just somse shooting practice, wall jumping and stuff?
I think it would be very usefull to have some single-player test-driving map for merc cards that you unlocked (and may not have purchased the character yet).

What are your thoughts?

I was just thinking about this and it would be great.

Planetside 2 has the “Virtual Reality” zone where you can test drive any vehicle, any weapon, with any upgrade.

I bet if you asked the guys at Daybreak they’d say it’s improved sales not curtailed them.

Plus

I’d really like to practice my Jumping/Parkour in a place where I’m not huring my team because I’m to busy trying to perfect the perfect leap then help the team.

I couldn’t agree more. Especially the VR idea is amazing. I love how in Planetside 2 I can test literally EVERYTHING(weapons, attachments, abilities, enhancements, vehicles etc.) for free.

Just a test mode on regular maps (without dying) would be nice. Also not really hard to implement.

Currently you can test the maps, but you have to play as Sawbonez afaik. No shooting allowed when you do it though. Just jumping.

If you want to explore maps/practice jumps alone you can start a local LAN server by starting the tutorial and entering the following cmd into console “switchlevel obj_xxxx”.

OBJ_Bridge
OBJ_CanaryWharf (Underground)
OBJ_Map_6 (Dome)
OBJ_Trainyard
OBJ_Victoria (Terminal)
OBJ_Whitechapel (Chapel)

This should really be a part of the tutorial section, having the player as soon as they spawn as Skyhammer the ability to to go through the the rest of his shooting gallery and later Aura’s section, or a general “Killbox” area, say like Brinks be more objective challenge arena with Target dummies, Player’s would have all the mercs available (maybe even have it look like a barrack with each merc’s bunk having stuff associated with them), interacting with a merc would have a general description of what their archtype does, along with the merc in particular’s speciality as the player instantly swaps to them.
