Immobilizes an enemy for 10 seconds and makes them die in one shot? No thanks.

Clicked expecting a slow ability or a slippery black ice sheet or something, not a friggin insta-kill on a 10 second cooldown.

(BushWanker) #3

@derpypenguinz19 not an insta kill.
Freezes them for 10 seconds, and then they melt, or if the block of ice gets shot, then they die.

Issue is, you make it seem like a single bullet is enough to kill anybody in the ice block. Besides, since they’re trapped for 10 seconds anyways, that’s more than enough time for a teammate to shoot the ice and get a kill, or for you to swap weapons and shoot the ice yourself. Even if you do die before you or a teammate can shoot a trapped person, they die after 10 seconds anyways.

In my eyes, this ability is blatantly overpowered, even without teammates around to assist you. You’d win every 1v1 provided you hit the freeze shot, and given that you have 4 shots to do it in, you’re probably gonna hit one.

@derpypenguinz19 your right.
It is OP.
But I would first like to inform you that after 10 seconds if you have not been hit, the ice will melt away and you will survive.
CHANGE LOG
SPECS
-Buff ice HP after being frozen to die to 50 from 0.

  • reduce melt time to 8 seconds
    -reduce mag size to 2 from 5
    -increase cooldown to 14 seconds per shot, from 10
    -Buff merc HP to 120 from 110
    -reduce movement speed to 415 from 420

Still way too overpowered.

-reduce melt time to 2.5 seconds
-reduce mag to 1
-increase cooldown to 18

(BushWanker) #7

@Dr_Plantboss what if you miss tho.
So it has to be 3 second meltdown and 2 shots, but with 25 second cooldown?

(Fyrix) #8

10 seconds in Dirty Bomb is way too long.

Then U f***ed.

Sorry, to elaborate:

What if you throw your grenade as Fragger and it doesn’t do anything? or Thunder? or even Skyhammer? it’s not the end of the world. I do think that 18 or 25 seconds was too high, i think that maybe 12 seconds would be fair with the stats I outlined… Definitely no less than 10 seconds, however.

(DankBeretField) #12

Not another Mei. Even if this merc is perfectly balanced, I’ll still say HELL NO!

10/10 Great Meme for the Upcoming Meme Event. . .

Wait are you not joking? I like the idea of freeze guns, but in a game as fast as Dirty Bomb is, even 2.5 seconds makes a ton of difference. Even being slowed makes a ton of difference. (Ever been barely grazed by a Conc from Thunder? Everything is greyish so you can see, but the speed change is so drastic you die anyway half the time)

Again, 50hp is still nothing. That’s 6 shots from the hochfir SMG (her default) which is less than half second (13.8 Rounds per Second, equals ~6 shots in half a second) dealing 54 damage.

She sounds fun to play, but this would be just as bad as playing against an OHK hacker. Just spam a shot at someone, they can’t move anymore, tap your button real quick and they dead.

If we were going to have a freeze merc, it would be better to use the original stats above but make the gun prevent jumping and slow you by 15 points for 4-5s, and require said gun to be charged.

Full-on stopping an enemy in this game is just overpowered, period. Especially when they still can’t fight back.

(BushWanker) #14

@civilRoad yeah, ur right

Kinda with @derpypenguinz19 on this one. I clicked expecting to read something like a sheet of ice that makes them slide in one direction or something.

I dunno. Sounds way too gimmicky. Most of your ideas aren’t bad but a few of them lately just don’t seem to fit in a game like Dirty Bomb imo and just remind me too much of Overwatch (where things get a little bit more wizardry).

I mean the Thors hammer idea reminds me of Reinhardts ult and this idea just reminds me too much of Mei as well. But the soul catcher idea where he can get two insta-kills every 45 seconds? I mean I dunno - This just sounds like some kind of magic spell made for an entirely different realm.

As far as I’m concerned any ability that either drastically slows people or insta-kills them is just not going to fit into Dirty Bomb - It’s half the why 99% of people in PUGS & competitions bans Thunder. He can single handedly knock out an entire team (that is 5 people in 5 or so seconds, nevermind 1 person in 10 seconds) from spawn in a 5v5 PUG when someone with decent aim can take advantage of the stationary targets - It’s just too much for a fast paced game like Dirty Bomb.

Dox’s analysis has never looked so crisp as it does now… +1 agree to you, sir.

More to the point many games discourage slows or insta-kills thereafter. The only reason overwatch can effectively get away with this is because of the vertical mobility of their characters and the limited range of that freeze effect.
