Merc requirement & tips

I think that in a team there should be a requirement to have atleast 1 engineer, 1 medic and 1 support merc. I’ve lost so many games due to the fact that I’m the only engineer and there is no medic to heal the team and me. This just leads to our team being massacred in every life. Having a bad merc lineup also results in ‘stomps’ a lot of the time.

In addition to this I personally think on the whole defending is far easier than attacking on the majority of maps. Most of the time the defenders lose is because their team chose a bad lineup of mercs.

Maybe tips on how to complete each objective would be good for some of the less educated players. For example throwing down an airstrike on the last objective of chapel can easily clear the area so that your team can push up and deliver.

When it’s about engineers, it’s slightly more complicated than that since engineers are not required everywhere. On Trainyard for exemple, engineers aren’t required for the third objective (as far as I know everyone deliver objectives atthe same speed).

However, an alert telling everyone if there’s no medic or fire support in the team could be very welcomed. The medic alert could be placed just below your health bar while the fire support alert could be placed just below your “ammo bar” (it’s not really a bar but you guys know what I mean).

I like the idea. But perhaps if the person changes to the character they will get +100XP which will also encourage people to change roles and be more helpful.

and when the team that is getting ‘‘stomped’’ starts calling the other team hackers due to dying and losing so hard.

I like that idea a lot. If you die you immediately get a non-obtrusive message stating a recommendation for an engineer or medic if the system thinks you need one. And if you switch you get rewarded with an XP bonus (but put it on a cooldown timer so it’s not exploited). They could add in an option to turn it off in the options as well to appease anybody who does not want to see it.

I second the idea. There are too many times where players have medics/engineers in their squads yet refuse to play them despite the fact we are losing/struggling.

I disagree.

Teams should be able to have the composition of their choice. That’s what makes the game fun, and it is interesting to see how better players pull off odd or atypical merc combos.

If you want to be certain your team will have an Enginner, a Medic, and Support - then you should take one of each in your squad and flex as needed. (its also your fault that the team is lacking those classes)

Would be hard to determine what IS a good team composition though. For instance if you’re defending a C4 objective you don’t really need an engineer, you can just switch after dying in case they get a plant.

well, i started to dont care and just play team death match all the time, it stupid because i can go 70/10 kd, and that wont help because team dosent know that to do, when you play medic in pub its just mostly feeding meat shield, when i play engineer, i need to do the obj by my self.

that idea ia good, but if someone will start playing medic that dosent mean he will be healing people, he can just run around and repair ev, or engineer helping up teammates

the point is that it isnt clearly told: look this is engineer, he is here to do the objective, protect him, or this is a medic, he is here to keep his team alive

Just make Turtle free, for the love of God give us a free merc this one time.

Is a idea, trouble is I doubt people are going to want to give up their pew pew just for a few extra XP.

And sometimes you get, more often than you’d think, get teammates who play the sudden what I like to call jealous switch…where you can join a map with no one playing a medic or engineer and you can start playing one, then all the sudden they’re like OMG MY XP and you go from a team with 0 medics or engineers to suddenly half your team or more playing one.

Which can screw up matches nearly as badly as not having said specializations at all.

(LifeupOmega) #12

Hah no. So many matchups can afford to drop an engineer across so many objectives. In fact, there shouldn’t be requirements, people just need to stop being stupid and realise that they need to pick what will help the team unless they’re carry gods.

Like, why would I ever want to be running an engineer on either side for Chapel last, or Bridge last, or Trainyard last, or either EV map as defender outside of a single generator.

(Flacke) #13

my team is fletcher, nader, phoenix and sometimes kira for ev

It would be nice to have something like Overwatch has, where in the lobby it tells you you’re lacking medics, fire support, engineers etc.
