Merc progression system idea

I had this idea,
what if they added a progression system for each merc, going from level 0 to level 100. You gain levels for the played merc with the score you accumulate in matches.
The rewards wouldn’t be anything game changing and you don’t actually get them for each new level, but for every five new levels you could get some credits or cases. But at level 50, you could get a special trinket unique to that merc that you played thus far, and at level 100 you could get a special skin, which you can only get by maxing out a merc, with the loadout of your choosing for the merc you maxed.

I didn’t yet thought about the technical aspect of this idea, for example how long it would actually take to get to max level, but it would probably take a whole lot of time.

I honestly didn’t know about Paladins having this. Never played that game.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I’m like 90% sure the game had this during the alpha phase, but it was removed for unknown reasons.

i think they removed it out of worry that people will think mercs get +% P2W style.

especially unique merc trinket : sticky bomb, proxy mine, phoenix-fruit, sound like great fun

While this does sound nice, even if SD implemented this, how would it be tracked retroactively?

Maybe one of the rewards could be a scopes for primary weapons, 'cause then you would have played DB enough and be competent enough to know that scopes in DB aren’t really necessary.

Isn’t this already done with hours/XP per merc in the profile section?

Ah yup, you’re​r rght!
So… they can theoretically implement the system now eh? Just need to get the art team to slave away for a while.
