They called me a cold hearted bitch. Thanks to these, they were right.
Bio
Born into a highly traditionalist Mexican family, Nieve found herself wanting more out of life than as a wife and mother. She served admirably in the Mexican Army, though not very notably. Of course, leaving the service into civilian life isn’t the easiest thing in the world. With a lack of marketable skills and no connections, she ended up becoming a US guest visa worker in heating and air conditioning, where she learned a lot about low temperatures and human reaction to them.
The Dirty Bomb attacks occurred, and representatives of both sides began searching among former military personnel worldwide to find footsoldiers for their brutal London turf war. Nieve’s name came up on the list, much to her delight. Having hated the cold and seen its ability to slow down and weaken, she could finally add it to the list of marketable skills to earn top dollar.
Stats
Health: 100
Speed: 450
Class: Assault (offensive debuff, also an Assault for the flanker playstyle)
Weapons: Hochfir, KEK, Remburg; DE. 50, Caulden, Empire-9; any melee
Appearance: A dark haired Latina woman, covered neck to toe in an insulating team-colored rubber suit. It’s baggy enough to mask her figure, were it not for the tool belt cinched around the waist as well as thigh holsters. Cryo Grenades dangle from this belt, ready for action.
Ability 1: Cryo Grenade
Revenge is a dish best served cold, and Nieve knows this. These insulated glass balls, filled with dry ice and liquid nitrogen, shatter on impact to spread a deathly chill on the battlefield. Unlike her counterpart Stoker, on the opposite temperature extreme, there’s no “pool of cold” with Nieve’s Cryo Grenades. Instead, anyone splashed will suffer a lingering chill effect for a short period afterward.
The larger primary splash radius dictates freezing enemies. The afterfreeze effect slows movement speed, weapon switch speed, reload speed, health regeneration rate, and objective completion rate, to all players in the radius by 5-15%, depending on how close they were to the center of the Cryo Grenade’s blast. After the first three seconds, afterfreeze “ramps down” over time, as the victims thaw out and speed back up to their normal pace.
There’s a smaller “secondary” splash radius, within which the Cryo Grenade can extinguish Stoker flames. The primary splash radius can impact teammates, making them resistant but not entirely invulnerable to the flames for a few seconds. Nieve herself will, if she hits herself with her own Cryo Grenade, gain both the positive and negative effects previously described.
Direct hits with Cryo Grenades will jam the weapon the victim is currently holding for the entire duration of Afterfreeze, forcing them to spend precious seconds without that weapon or stop to clear the jam.
Deployables are unaffected by Cryo Grenades, even though the health regen debuff works to slow down Aura stations and Medpacks. The sole exception is Bushwhacker’s Turret, which will be slower to track enemies.
1 in inventory at a time, 20 second cooldown.
Fight Back
Be on guard. With her high movement speed, Nieve can hit the side of your offensive and inflict her deadly chill on you and your teammates.
If your weapon is jammed, tap the Reload key or inspect your weapon while standing still or crouch-walking to clear the jam. This takes a few seconds, so make sure you aren’t exposed.
In a pinch, leaping into a friendly Stoker’s flames will thaw you out faster and allow you to return to your full capability sooner.
Now get Nieve, chill out, and play dirty.
