Merc missions

Can it be too much to ask if we could get missions instead of using a certain merc in your squad why couldn’t it be their class? Like instead of Skyhammer I get a Fire support mission about handing out ammo XP and Objective play, same for medics, assaults, etc.

I know we should get to try out all the mercs in our roster its just I can’t help but stick to a few specific ones that I actually like to use and switch to when necessary. I’m certain this has been mentioned but hell I can’t find the search bar so might as well ask if people are chill with this.

But there are generic Combat/Support/Game Mode/Objective/Stopwatch missions that do not require any specific merc.

Yes that’s true for generic missions like support XP, objective XP, etc.

But what about making it firesupport XP, medic XP, recon XP, assault XP, etc instead of being forced to put Skyhammer in my roster when I would prefer Arty on Chapel?

It’s a F2P game that makes part of it’s money off of selling mercs. A mission system that encourages players to play mercs they wouldn’t normally consider would potentially make them considering picking up a new merc they don’t own yet. So I’d guess that those missions most likely will stick around. I don’t find them to be too much of a hassle though as I just throw them in my squad but I don’t have to actually use them.

You have 3 merc slots available, it’s not a big deal.
Missions are fine. There were some annoying ones, but they are gone now.

See it as more encouragement to learn a new merc.

That would make no sense having stuff like “earn medic xp” but I would like better missions

It’s stupid that there is no difference between Waterboy and operation Sparks.
It should be stuff like:
Heal a total of x health with Aura’s health station
Revive a total of x players using the REVIVR
Score x scoped headshot kills (Vassili)
Kill/kill assist x concussed enemies (Thunder)
Kill/kill assist x debuffed enemies (Aimee)

And so on, it will make each character having their own unique mission and the mission will actually force you to play that merc.
The current system is pretty bad because you are just forced to have a merc in your squad, you don’t even have to play them and it’s exactly the same as any normal mission that requires that type of xp.
Take medic missions and Waterboy missions, tell me what’s the difference between the 2? In medic missions I only have 2 merc slots available (3rd is taken by the medic) and in Waterboy I can choose any 3 mercs I want. I don’t even have to play Sawbonez (or whatever medic there is) to complete the mission, which kinda sucks and makes it boring
I’m not saying Waterboy, Objective Monkey and Hunter Killer should be removed, just replace the merc specific ones

TL;DR: Give each merc their own mission which can be only completed using those mercs

I wouldn’t really like that as I’d be pretty much forced to miss out on some missions. For example, I hate sniping with a passion and never play Vasilli. Getting a mission with him would be an instant nope.
I dislike the required playstyle of certain mercs and with the way missions are now, I don’t actually have to hold my team down by playing mercs I don’t enjoy.
They still take up one of the 3 precious slots so you’re still forced to give up someone to get your mission reward.

Am I in the minority that enjoys the fact that if I have “support xp” mission, merc included or not, I have basically 3 different ways of doing it as either medic, fire support and recon? It offers versatility instead of some bollocks specific “get X revives” which would basically result in some people running 24/7 around with defibs either failing horribly or simply longspawning their teammates all match long?

Missions are already creating these “I must hunt for type X exp” type of people who give jacksh!t about objective and simply go with the thing they think gives them the desired exp. Or in case its gamemode exp they bumrush into bombsite/EV legs of fire crotch on foam solo only to be obliterated by defender crossfire and b!tch how bad their team is not to defend them in their absolutely mindless and useless activity.

Do we need rework in mission mechanics? Sure why not. Should it be like suggested here, even more specific and gimmicky ones? No.
