[Merc] Machine the Objective Specialist

(sentimentalDime) #1

Machine once wanted to start up a car repair shop, however, after being denied a loan from the bank, he turned to some rather… Shady people. Only a couple of months after starting up, his repair shop, it went out of business. Then the dirty bomb incident happened, and owing a lot of money to different loan sharks, he decided the best way to make a lot of money fast, was to become a mercenary for hire. He payed off his debts long ago, but he developed a taste for killing people and blowing stuff up.

Machine’s ability revolves around him placing a mountable machine gun with 100 rounds of ammunition. When it runs out, it will basically serve as a small piece of cover like turtle’s shield

It will like the ones scattered around the maps overheat, and be affected by the cool augment.

It will also deal slightly less damage per shot than the normal MGs and shoot a little slower.

It’s ability to turn would be the same as the standard ~90 degrees on Machine guns.

The gun would have 250 health points, so you could choose to go for the player that’s mounted on it, or the gun itself, with a 35 second cooldown period before he can place a new one.

He would have 110 health and a movement speed of 410

His primary weapon options:
Ahnuld-12
Hollunds 880
Remburg 7

His secodary weapon options:
Caulden
M9
Selbstadt .40

Melee weaponry would be the standard

I think he would be best played as a character you send in when the enemy is weakened to clear them out and plant/repair (since he is an Objective Specialist) and then setting up an MG to hold off the enemies.

Let me know what you think of him, and potential ideas for him.

Sounds pretty interesting. Btw 1,5 mins CD for an ability like this is a bit too much maybe 1:20 mins or 1:15 cuz MG’s aint so powerful after all and yo are vaulnarable while on one.

(sentimentalDime) #3

@TheOrangePhantome You are probably right now that i think about it, 1 minute actually seeems most appropriate, as a single well placed fragger grenade and a couple of M4 shots would destroy the gun.

(gg2ez) #4

50 second cooldown is already stretching it. Go 40 seconds, after all, it doesn’t move and only has 250HP and will literally make you a sniper target. Great for close range choke point encounters.

(sentimentalDime) #5

@gg2ez i don’t know about the sniper target thing, as i think people would place it in places where a sniper would have to get really close to you, therefor, making you pretty hard to kill with a sniper, unless the sniper is really skilled

(sentimentalDime) #6

@g2ez but i don’t really know, i really wanted to not make him seem OP, maybe i went in too hard on him

(TheOrangePhantome) #7

You did go hard on him.

(gg2ez) #8

Yes, you did. Trust me, anywhere there is an MG, there will be a Vas nearby.

UPDATE: Added a background story for him, and did some changes to his ability and the post itself.

(gg2ez) #10

An in-debt car mechanic that knows how to build an MG, very nice.

Go with 35 secs cooldown, just because it’s weaker than an actual MG.

(sentimentalDime) #11

@gg2ez I like to think that he just ‘‘borrowed’’ one the MGs scattered around and made some adjustments to make it lighter so he can carry it on his back like Bushwhacker does

(gg2ez) #12

What I’d like to know is: How do you strap an MG to your back anyway. That’s gotta be hard no matter how light. Imagine the shape.

(sentimentalDime) #13

@gg2ez Well, i don’t think it would be that hard, i mean, think of the MGs scattered around the maps, when i think of his ability i think of one of those, just smaller and with a tripod
