Should there be a limitation on how many engineers/snipers/medics you can bring into your squad?

even i cant understand why proxy rush is stil a thing.

No. If someone’s designated role in a team is medic they may very well have 3 of them for instance, for example Aura for holding a bombsite but Phoenix or Sawbonez for a retake, then Sparks for another part of the map…
A couple of days ago I was on Attacking Objective Team at Terminal. 8 vs 8. Our team was like Me as Proxy and Stoker (Proxy to push objective and booby trap Objective. Stoker to foil attempts to disarm and coat Objective in napalm when bomb is close to exploding). Another Proxy - so this other player had good combo with my Stoker… Then the rest of the team was 6 x Phoenix (I think he’s on Free Rotation).
So too many medics right? 
But to respond to the OP… no… There should be total freedom how many mercs and how many of each type anybody wants! You see, in that particular game the Phoenixes were like a SWAT Phalanx unit of some kind where they were zipping around with their Hochfirs, but they were always within a few feet of each other. This basically made sure they kept almost all 8 of the other team pre-occupied while us 2 Proxies (or 1 Proxy, 1 Stoker) could sort of focus on the business of pushing through Terminal.
Also since me and the other player were using Proxy we were kinda squishy, but as this Phoenix Mob converged to the gate after our first plant, we were just getting revived by six Pheonixes! It was awesome!
It was really great, and for some reason I doubt another 6 Phoenix players could have pulled it off as well.

was referring to how many medics you put in your squad, not how many are on your team but okay
I’d rather just lengthen their cooldowns to obscene levels once there’s more than two. Nothing more boring than navigating a mine field cause 4 players all play Proxy and ruin the game for anyone wanting an actual fight.
As Dawnrazor said, each of the mercs of each type actually have different uses. Fletcher is a “fighting Engie”, Proxy is a blitz and trapping Engie, Bushwhacker is an Engie who can hold a position, etc.
Someone can specialize, y’know.
nah sometime i go full eng or full med just to get the game mode/supp xp and no one tell me to change and go eng or go medic
I go all medics when I need to force myself to get support exp
I don’t enjoy medics that much… Why you ask? Pubs.
