Merc Level up

i remember in previous videos of the game in earlier beta there was level up system for each individual merc. but now that i’ve gotten into the beta im not seeing it, did they take it out?

Leveling up of the individual mercs was previously used to unlock augments. As opposed to what we have now, all loadouts cards (including the defaults) had 3 augments, but they were inactive on Level 1 mercs. You got to unlock one augment slot for each level of your merc up to Level 4 where they all became active. So for instance once your merc reached Level 3 he/she had access to the first 2 augments on any of its loadout cards. Level 5 and up only unlocked special taunts (which I believe are now available by default in the v79 menu).
