[Merc] Kid/Smile

So.
Ahem.

I thought it would be cool to have a special kind of recon merc.

Kid or Smile, havent decided on the name yet. A young boy who’s bored of the world and decides to pick a up a more interesting type of a job, not really for the money, but for the thrill of it.

I haven’t really thought much for him yet, but I decided to at least get started and slowly update it.

Basically, Kid is a young genius, who had rich parents, private teachers etc. But he would prefer to study on his own, because he didn’t see a need for someone to teach him if he could learn it himself from books/over the internet. Kid has great memory, so he simply quoted the material from the books when teachers tried to teach him the topic. He was simply smarter and didn’t mind mocking useless teachers.

Kid is smart and arrogant, he knows his limits and yet brags about more than he could accomplish.
The things he does find interesting though, are RC cars, explosives and war history. Just because he’s smart doesn’t mean he can’t be childish, that’s why the name Kid, maybe Smile, as he likes to laugh at others for being inferior to him. :mrgreen: <- something similiar would be his “icon” on his abilities to mock people for falling for them for being not smart enough. Also he would use many quotes from books like “Art if War” etc.

The boring part:

Since he’s a genius, he doesn’t mind handling all types of guns, thats why an AR, SMG and a shotgun. Sniper rifles aren’t his thing really, he prefers to have the enemy see his face before he defeats them.

Now the fun part:

Ability Q: Kid sends out an RC car that will drive to the targeted location(with a remote which functions like Kira’s/Arty’s ability), spotting enemies along the way within a certain radius with a tiny camera on top and explodes as soon as it reaches it’s destination. Can be shot to explode by Kid himself or enemies. RC car cannot drive up the stairs and might have difficulties driving up some ledges, but the marker can target walls, in which case the RC car will drive against the wall and detonate.

Ability E: Kid deploys a claymore mine that projects a hologram of Kid on top of it. The mine will detonate and explode in a cone, if an enemy passes by it or if the hologram gets shot(disrupted). The mine can be disabled by shooting it directly as the hologram starts at knee level.

For the start I’m just trying to make Kid as OP as possible and then speculate on which areas should I cut down his power to eventually balance him out.

I’ll try to scribble some initial artwork for him at some point. Once I’m done with that I hope senpai @Shinywindow can perfect it for me.

anyways, the abilities.
the q ability looks to be another bad drone idea, basically arty’s artillery that marks every enemy between arty himself and the designated target.
AND there’s the explosion

the e ability is a straight up OP proxy mine. if im reading this right, this is supposed to be a fire support or an assault in which case there’s supposed to be only one offensive ability(no existing merc has more than 1 offensive ability).
back to the mine, do you know how much salt surrounds the proxy mines? do you know salt used to be EXTREMELY valuable in the past? spilling salt was thought to be the work of the devil. anyways, the amount of salt around proxy mines would probably fix the salt shortages of old no problem, we dont need a mine with a freaking hologram decoy on it.

i also took the time to look over the weapons and…
semi-automatic rifle with high damage per shot.
a pretty fast smg, though it sounds like rubbing coins together.
a shotgun that i think focuses more on range than damage.
make up your mind. most fire supports use rifles only, assaults use automatics(except for rhino), engineers and medics use smgs and shotguns, but no class uses smg, rifle AND shotgun

Unless his enemies are weak and boring(bored/uninterested and maybe some other voice commands), otherwise yes, he should always run around with a huge grin on his face saying sarcastic lines and mocking the enemy and his “useless” teammates(except when begging for medics up until he get’s revived/healed).

And @TheRyderShotgun, literally the first sentence states he’s supposed to be a recon merc.

His guns are just all around so he can prove he’s better than everyone else using those guns.
Didn’t want to give him automatic ARs and Redeye already carries a semi-auto, so I thought he could use a burstfire. For the SMG, I just didn’t want to give him Hochfir/Blishlock. And for shotguns I decided for Ahnuld just because it has more range.
Also I should later add his melee weapons, knives or something to slice real deep. :smile:

His abilities aren’t meant to one-shot enemies, they’re just weak traps that are there to mock the enemy that they could have died to a silly trap. They should still deal a considerable amount of damage in an area to stay relevant. I mean he doesn’t even bother to hide his traps, a slow somewhat noisy easily destroyable RC car carrying a bomb and a mine that makes itself stick out with a fancy hologram on top.

His entire personality is to toy around with the enemy, like a kid would toy with ants, crush them, burn them, trap them. God complex. He’s not exactly insane, more like calm and collected evil genius who likes to prove his power. I guess somewhat similiar to Yagami Light and Lelouch Lamperouge.

oops. skipped straight to the abilities, but i guess that’s not an excuse.

anyways now the problem is a recon with 2 abilities, both of which can deal damage.

Depending on damage, would two damage dealing abilities really be a problem? I mean Proxy can drop 2 mines, Fletcher 3 stickys and Nader shoot 5 nades straight. I think with reasonable damage that wouldn’t be any worse.

With each of the current engineers, despite having multiple deployables, they’re all the same TYPE of deployable each time. - One can know what the limitations of each are: there’s no guessing which ability one will need to combat.
