[Merc Idea] - Vira

(Cordyceps) #1

Name: N/A
Gender: Female
Age: 52
Nationality: Brazilian

Health - 100
Speed - 420

Default Loadout:

Primary: Dreiss AR
Secondary: M9
Melee: Syringe (explanation to follow)

Ability: Influenza

Vira throws a glass vial that breaks upon contact, releasing a mostly transparent greenish cloud slightly smaller than Redeye’s smoke cloud, and dissipates after 7 seconds. Any player caught in this cloud will contract influenza.

When a player firsts contracts influenza, they break into a violent cough that makes them lose 20 hp. After the cough, the player will lose HP at a rate of 8HP/second over 6 seconds. If any player comes within 2 meters of another player with Influenza, they will also contact Influenza. This effect can be cured by medic sources, and to prevent an infinite loop, each player can not contract the same strain of Influenza more than once.

Cooldown is 45 seconds

Syringe (changed):

Has an RPM of 90, and deals 10 damage. A successful hit will inflict a player with Influenza type II, which can not be spread, and damages at a rate of 9HP/second over 7 seconds

Sounds cool…

I kind of like this idea.

Glad to hear it, that means a lot coming from you

Syringe:

Has an RPM of 90, and deals 20 damage. Each hit has a 15% chance of inflicting the target with Influenza. [/quote]

I was only mildly concerned until this. Random chance effects do NOT belong in competitive shooters. This isn’t Dota or Hearthstone, fights aren’t decided by dice.

I was also throwing around the Idea of the syringe giving opponents a much weaker version of Influenza.

Can you tell when your allies are afflicted? I would hope so…

I would also recommend a name change to the ability, influenza doesn’t act that fast as far as I know. How about a bio grenade? Simple enough, right?

Damage over time in this game seems difficult to combat, since most mercs can’t heal themselves, and medics would almost be required to combat this merc - making 1v1 encounters difficult to deal with: especially for slower mercs.

Consider also that Stoker’s fire is dispensable by explosives and does 40 damage a tick with limited range after the initial impact. - this merc would do roughly 64 damage for ALL in the initial radius, which is as of yet unspecified without even including the strain traveling between players who weren’t first hit.

I’d strongly advise against the passing between players part.

I actually came up with the concept for this Merc specifically with the passing between players idea in mind.

I think for telling if allies are afflicted, they could have an icon above them, similar to when they are low on health and ammo.

And you do have a point with the name change.

I never did comment on the merc name, is good

thats one of cooler ideas in a while, but i think that instead of spreading between teammates (which is cool but seems too strong imo) we could just increase the dmg, and dont put rng into weapons, i also though that if someone gibs you with knife he/she would get that sickness
