[Merc Idea] Thermica (REVISITED!)

(SweetGenocide) #1

Decided to revisit this idea since i think it’s the only succesful idea i’ve got ’ - ’

HP : 110

Speed: 420 (no pun intended)

Gender : Female (if wondering why im always sugesting female mercs its because we need more female mercs in my opinion)

Class : Fire Support

Nationality : Canadian

Backstory : A young weapon designer of sci-fi choices, Thermica always had a rich mind within, and thats why led to her creating her special GN-29 Thermic Anti Denial Device and her MA-45 Resuply Bot

GN-29 Thermic Anti Denial Device : Thermica places a small device on the ground that takes some time to arm, the device is 1 mm smaller than the ammo station, when armed the device starts to emit powerful waves of heat, if an enemy enters the waves of heat the target will get slowed down by 5% , have it’s recoil increased by 5/10/15% , and take 2/5/11 damage per tick, the radius of the waves of heat is slightly smaller than Aimee’s snitch radius, the effects of the device affect the target based on the range (20 Meters = 2 damage, 5% recoil ; 10-15 Meters = 5 damage, 10% recoil ; 5 Meters = 11 damage , 15% recoil)
(Duration : X ; Cooldown : 50 ; HP : 30 ; Range : 20 Meters)

MA-45 Resuply Bot : Thermica throws a special bot that targets the first ally in 5 meters, the bot will fly straight to the target and resuply a half of the magazine but also decrease the cooldown of the mercs’ abilities by 3 seconds.

Psyhical Figure : Thermica haves wavy hair, a skull styled bandana covering her mouth and wears artic tactical gear.

Weapons:

  • Timik-47
  • BR - 16
  • Dreiss AR

Secondaries:

  • DE.50
  • Simeon (Default)
  • Caulden

Melees:

  • Beckhill (Default)
  • Cricket Bat
  • Kukri

Advantages:

  • Perfect tight area denying
  • Perfect for defending an area
  • If the device is placed perfectly than the enemy will strugle to take it down

Disadvantages:

  • Bad at ammo giving
  • The bot can be seen by the enemy
  • The device has low HP and is really fragile.

So, a Bushwhacker turret that doesn’t actually deal that much damage, has a fairly crappy status effect to make up for that, can be destroyed very easily, and has an absurd cooldown. The heat rays are apparently also super visible as well, so anybody can see it before ever entering its AoE. Yep. Totally not an underpowered Bushwhacker.

Good concept, but the stats need some work.

(Dysfnal) #3

@derpypenguinz19 it’s not TOO bad, Bush’s turret can’t be placed on walls or ceilings, you could allow for small amounts of damage through walls, maybe?

(Mr-Penguin) #4

Well, if you can see where the rays are coming from, then you can know exactly where this is placed and thus know where to shoot before it can damage you very much.

(SweetGenocide) #5

@derpypenguinz19 at distance the heat rays aren’t so visibile and cant be placed in places like bushs turret, and lets say: you see a Fletcher that is fighting someone in underground, the panel is inside the train and he gets inside it and its super close so that basicly means instant death.

basicly its about punishment when people dont watch it

(yesser) #6

we need stats and for me its a bit op put behind a generator (like terminal secondary objective first part) and the other team will struggle to take it down if they dont have fletcher nade or frag since aproaching it would maybe due to a death and would the panel be posed or throwed ?

(SweetGenocide) #7

@agileBeetle welp the panel dosent have like, a semi circle zone, it’s a straight line. so basicly all they have to do is position themselves better to take it out, sure Fragger,Nader or Fletcher could do the same but it would be a waste for their abilities

I like the idea. A small trap that basically radiates aimpunch and recoil. Not bad.

But the weapons need to change. It’s Nader’s arsenal. Don’t be afraid to create a new weapon with the Merc.

Also: Why is she an Engineer? Her ability sounds more like a fire support ability… and how visible is the panel? How big is it? Does it have to be deployed on a surface, or can it be placed anywhere, similar to Turtle’s shield?

(SweetGenocide) #9

@Brycko Thanks for the tip, i changed the role and weapons, the panel is pretty visibile its got a dark touch to it, it’s aproximatly as big as Turtles shield but an inch higher, it can be placed on a surface, so basicly it’s like Turtles shield kind of.

Interesting idea. Needs a bit of tweaking, to say the least… (Comparing this to either a turret or a Molotov is kind of hard not to do.)

(SweetGenocide) #11

Welp revisited.

(Naonna) #12

recoil or bullet spread? - also any DOT through walls is a ‘no’
similarly, lowering cool downs is dangerous, given that the entire game balance of a merc revolves around how often they can use their ability.

I’d be skeptical of this merc at best.

Welp it’s Recoil, and i didn’t mention that the DOT would go trough walls, and you’re right, lowering ability cooldowns might be dangerous.

So it’s a damaging aura station? - Do keep in mind stoker’s limited time frame and cool down on his molotov, and the DPS of it. Even with this being a deployable and thus, destroy-able, I’m unsure if it’s a balanced mechanic. I feel it would require testing from the people at SD to balance out the numbers. I’m unsure if/where this sort of ability could be abused at the moment.
