Merc idea: Tesla the 'shocking' assault merc

Tesla is one of the worlds leading scientists. She was part of the team responsible for creating the atomic bomb, and sadly the ‘Dirty’ bomb. she used to be a small, petite lady with her brain capacity being bigger than her, but when the dirty bomb blew up her lab and all her friends and colleagues, she was slightly, ‘Changed’ by the explosion. she now has muscles as big as her brain. she thought that she would have no place in a destroyed world, however she realized that she could make money out of her accident. she used her knowledge and intellect to create her own weapon, the Tesla cannon. she uses this and a lot of brute force to destroy any and everything in her way… for a price of course!

Primary ability: Equippable weapon: the ‘Tesla’ cannon

the Tesla cannon is a very powerful weapon that has 2 unique firing modes-

firing mode 1: Tesla shock: the Tesla shock is like a wall of lightning in front of Tesla, that changes damage among up to 3 enemies, even around corners. however, this firing mode isn’t very high damaging, as it only does 4 points of damage per second, but if you hold down the fire on your enemies it will definitely scare your enemies.

cooldown: if held down for more than 10 seconds, it enters a 5 second cooldown.

firing mode 2: rail shot: the rail shot is one powerful burst of lightning that deals 180 damage to all enemies within the damage radius. this acts like a powerful sniper shot that goes through enemies.

cooldown: 20 seconds

primary weapons: crotzni, smg-9, blishlok

secondary weapons: deagle, smuth and westman, tolen mp

melee weapons: both knifes, cricket bat

While I don’t particularly care for the back story, the mechanics are interesting. I think however, the way you stated them would make the Tesla shock underpowered and the rail shot overpowered. I have an alternate idea:

Tesla shock: fires a somewhat slow moving ball of electricity that can pass through thin walls, players, and deployables. The ball itself would only be about as big as one of Proxy’s mines (though a sphere instead of a flat disk). However, it has an area of influence large enough to completely encompass Rhino. Arcs of electricity jump between the ball and any wall, merc, or deployable within its area of influence. All deployables in the AOE will be temporarily rendered unusable, much like Thunder’s concussion grenade, and any merc in that AOE will stunned for a short duration, unable to move quickly or use their weapons as their muscles are spawning from being tased. Any deployable hit directly by the ball will be destroyed any merc hit by it will be felt direct damage as well as stunned. This ability has a short charge up as well.

Rail shot: an insane bolt of electricity that reaches it’s destination almost instantly. It has a limited range, just like the Tesla shock, but it is further. It deals direct damage to its target once it impacts it, it’s energy completely dispersed. If it is enough to kill the target, the merc will be insta-gibbed. Mercs will receive much smaller damage if the shot passes within close proximity of them, and any deployables in the same range will be destroyed. This also has a charge up time but is concidetably longer to reach its full strength. Lighter discharges can also be done, much like Spark’s revive gun or Pheonix’ AOE heal.

Look for any of my comments in regards to insta kills or taking away control from an enemy player. - Both are a No. Damage around corners seems underwhelming when we have stoker, despite the cool down difference.
