Merc Idea: Snakeskin

(Samniss_Arandeen) #1

Now hiring Snakeskin, an Engineer Merc hailing from India who can…wait, which one of you’s the real Snakeskin?

Health: Varies between 110 and 150. See Ability 1.
Speed: 420

Ability 1: Holographic Decoy
Activating this Ability deploys an AI-controlled holographic duplicate of Snakeskin that “attacks” the objective/nearby enemies. The hologram has 80 Health and awards Snakeskin with XP for all the fire it diverts. While this Ability is active, Snakeskin’s maximum health decreases from 150 to 110. Press the Ability button again to recall the decoy; if it makes it back to him, it will recover max health and cooldown proportional to the amount of health it had remaining. Max health incrementally returns to 150 as the Ability cools.

Ability 2: Objective Specialist

Loadouts: BR-16/M9/Stillnotto, Ahnuld-12/DE. 50/Beckhill, Stark AR/Smjuth and Whetsman/Kukri

Additional Notes: Redeye’s IR Goggles can’t pick up the decoy, which depending on the situation is a good or bad thing. I’d also like Stoker to prove his theory about lighting computer-controlled beams of light on fire correct.

He seems a tad to storng with 150 hp when not using the ability and 420 movility.
maybe reduce the movility and the 150 hp. maybe he has 110hp but the holograms have the 150 hp

How does 400 spd 120(80) health sound? I’m trying to build a slightly weaker and faster Fragger, but an engie. This is my take on the “cross-classing” thing people have been suggesting.

well thats pretty much Skyhammer and he is a pretty decent stated. so i think that would be much better.

well this is old I don’t know why I am replying to this but anyways my point was holograph doesn’t fight and also it doesn’t act like matter it’s just a illusion created with light.

Unless it’s not a traditional hologram of pure light.
Maybe it can fight and act like matter with some fictional future science.

hears the words “A.I. Controlled” … Good luck with that. (Also, I.R. goggles detect heat, so they WOULD see through that, keeping with logic.)

Cloning and illusion type abilities in games rarely seem to have any impact, given how apparent it is that a clone isn’t a player. Giving a clone a set path leaves it walking into walls without EXTREME time being put into the a.i. or adding lines to the map for it to follow.

Making copies attack or do actual damage can be irritating. Having them block shots is… sorta useful in a few situations, but at that point you may want a wall-building character.

The only reason paladins is able to get away with having clones is because at the time, the person making the clone can swap with it or go invisible. Because these sorts of mechanics fail in dirty bomb, I don’t see cloning being a highly-effective option.
