Merc Idea: Rig

(_retired_) #1

Rig (Handy)

Class: Engineer
Hit points: 120
Speed: 390

Rig has long career of being a handyman. He can do it all. Or that he claims. And he can help anyone with anything. He’s kind of troubleshooter with attitude that it’s best to do it by yourself than let others screw it. After he heard the bad news that he suffers from condition that slowly makes his motorical abilities to halt over time he build himself an exoskeleton. This exoskeleton or “rig” is useful for many things.

Main armament is Stark AR/BR-16/Hochfir

Ability 1: Extra battery (Cooldown package)
Rig carries around extra battery which have long cool down. He can drop this battery which will dramatically decrease the cooldown of the character’s abilities who picked it up even after that character just used abilities.

Ability 2: Automaton
After starting repair/plant Rig can activate automaton, and the exoskeleton itself will start to do the job required while even though Rig can hardly move during this operation, he can turn around and return fire if he’s being targeted. (This might include carrying deploable.)

Ability 3: Objective specialist

Appearance: Bit older than middle-aged working class man with almost intolerable attitude. He knows it all since he can do it all. Has bad attitude towards someone doing poor job or someone being a slacker.

NOTE: It needs more work, I know.

The whole point of Objective Specialist is that you’re doing the work fast enough to not need to get up and fight back. If you end up having to after starting work, you screwed up.

What happens when an enemy destroys the Automaton before it finishes and returns to you? Does that leave you a sitting duck?

So basically shooting Rig you still do the same job as any engineer. Engineer is a sitting duck when he does his work anyways so the difference is just that Rig can shoot back.

It might be flawed concept and Rig in general would be most useful in specific scenarios.
I have another idea that I might add as an “optional” ability
