Merc: Hazmat

An idea for a Merc wearign a Hazmat suit immune to radiation effects and other gas releated effects (except smoke).

Main Gadget: Gas grenade (deploys gas screen that hurts enemys)
Passive: Hazmat suit ( makes the user immune to gas related dmg effects)

This guy would fit the role of a flanker on some maps as he would be able to pass trough contamined areas he would be also suitable for offense and defense.

As a primary weapon i would sugest a long shotgun, 2h smgs or carbines. as a priamry weapon he would either wield a ‘normal pistol’ liek the SIG or weaker revolvers.

he would have normal health but decreased running speed.

What do you think?

Yeah i also had the idea for ‘Riot’ carrying a shield and a teargas launcher. I think they would both fit into the ‘story’ since there are quantry zone etc. it’s logical to assume that people worked there. probably in hazmat suits so i basically had the idea for this hasmat merc send in to ‘clean’ the place. If we get some more special kind of weaponry a flamethrower would be a cool primary weapon for him :smiley: (like those guys cleaning up in zombie apocalypses).

Really like the passive idea of being able to go through gas but that seems more fitting as an ability on a loadout card, on the other hand the idea of a grenade that does damage over time on a small area works just like Stoker’s napalm grenades mixed with Redeye’s Smoke grenades, maybe at a different speed along with the smoke simply messing with player’s vision?

you can give the smoke pretty much any effect you like :smiley:

But no the hazmat suit is part of his outfit therefor a permanent passive ability, like proxys better tool set.

i thought that the smoke grenades would be a less potent version of the stuff that is in the tunnels.

does she really have that? isn’t that just because she’s an engineer as a class and therefore defuses faster?

yeah her passive ‘class’ ability are better tools (it’s not said anywhere on the card that she has those i suggested that already somewhere else) but we could add a new ‘class’ with mercs that are resistant against gas effects because they have a gasmask.

Like Einstyle said, Engineers in general can build/repair arm/disarm C4 faster because they are engineers, Thats like their equivalent to Medics healing/reviving and the fact that Assaults have more health than other classes (For the most part, Nader’s lack in health is made up for higher damage/range with her grenade launcher) and Field Ops have Ammo/Air strikes (For the most part, Stoker has a molotov serving as the only indoors ability but not an outright player killer) and Recons can locate enemies (Again for the most part, Phantom excluded in making himself unlocatable) aside from that theres no real passive bonus a specific character has that isn’t based their perk in a loadout, the idea of a gasmask to go through radiation sounds great as a passive ability since the merc doesn’t really sound like they fit an archtype that isn’t a Stoker/Redeye hybrid, its like making a merc whos ability is to throw knives, hearing enemy airstrikes or spotting mines/grenades and able to toss them back, it just doesn’t really cover much to solidify their role

is it so bad that he doesn’t fit a momentan ‘sterotype’? when playing dirtybomb (for one weekend that might be the reason) i didn’t got the feeling that those mercs where put in actual class they just fit in there roles. Also i didn’t spot something to identify their class.

The role for Hazmat would be flanking the enemy to stager it so that the main attack can get trough. That way he can ‘defuse’ chokepoints aswell as create them himself (with his grenades).

Oh i had an idea for the gasmaks.
It’s an active gadget that has to be activated. It has no cooldown and can be toggled on and off. While he has the gasmask in the face he is immune to gas BUTT his vision is hindered and he is a little bit slower ( because he can’t breath that fast). It would be cool if the gasmask gets smudged etc (like in metro :p)

I like your art style and I have to admit it’ll be nicer if they were to add more characters rather than just perks, my opinion in changed entirely, I love the Hazmat character idea.
He also does sound a bit like he’d fit an assault, so maybe a tear gas launcher or gas spraying cannon. :open_mouth:
