[Merc] Gladiator UPDATED - COMPLETE REWORK

Meet Gladiator, an ex-Italian riot cop with a much less “legal” way of keeping the crowd controlled. After being discharged for being “too violent” on duty, Gladiator sent himself straight to the Dirty Bomb conflicts where he could earn some easy cash by doing what he does best - beating the living sh*t cakes out of his enemies.

During his time between being a Riot Officer and a DB merc, Gladiator made a deal with a shady arms dealer from Nigeria in for his new signature weapon, the Shield Projector. Gladiator functions as both a defensive and offensive assault merc, specialised in tanking large amounts of damage for the team. Gladiator will have no problems both taking shots for the team and giving it back to the enemy tenfold.

Gladiator has 140HP and 390SP.

Gladiator has no melee weapons, instead, upon drawing his pistol he also activates his Shield Projector that gives him a solid, holographic, riot shield-like screen in front of him. On left mouse button, the pistol will fire normally. On right mouse button, Gladiator will raise his shield for a maximum of 10 seconds, during which he will take no bullet, explosion, or melee damage. To ensure that the shield cannot be spammed, for every second that Gladiator keeps the shield up, he’ll have to let it recharge for the same amount of time. Downsides of the shield include [list]

Primary Ability - Shield Rush
Gladiator charges forward with his shield raised at a speed of 490SP for 3 seconds, knocking back any enemies (3m) or projectiles (8m). During Shield Rush, the pistol cannot be used, however, colliding with an enemy deals 50 damage. Stop Shield Rush by switching weapons. 20 second cooldown applies.

Secondary Ability - Shield Bash
Gladiator swings his shield and impacts the enemy with amazing force. Hold [E] to charge up swing power, maximum damage is -70HP. Cooldown time is dependent on the amount of time Shield Bash was charged for ranging from 3-6 seconds.

@astoundingShellfish “Holometric shield”. The only weighted part is the handle and Projector - about the weight of a pistol.

The only weapon he can use whilst using the shield is a katana-range spear, Legs are still exposed. Explosives rolling on the ground will wreck him, can still attack him from the sides and back, shield destroyed by hitting it in the center with 60DMG. All for what? Damage tanking?

@gg2ez Everyhtign is good but the sheld toss.
I feel it unecessary, you could make aait wider to the sde so you can cover allies

@astoundingShellfish imagine this: 12 seconds left to defuse, a friendly Fragger is defusing, an enemy Skyhammer throws an Airstrike Marker at the Fragger, Gladiator throws his shield at the Airstrike Marker and bounces it back at the Skyhammer, the Airstrike Marker hits Skyhammer and the Airstrike kills Skyhammer. You could also do this with Nades, Heartbeat Sensors, or even a Phantom coming in for a Katana kill.

P.S. I’ll make it so that the shield expands when Gladiator raises it.

it still doesnt seem fit to me…maybe it could ocune off the marker if you block ti with the shield.
you could also look up to block the airstrike.

@astoundingShellfish Yeah, no. No matter how high tech the shield, an Airstrike will always deliver around 20 tons of pressure. Logically, if you looked up to block it would mean you were getting 20 tons pushed against you, I don’t think a dude with a shield can survive that :lol:

I might change toss to “charge” and get some demo-knightish thing going.
