Merc Backstories

I think that it would be pretty interesting to see backstories for the various mercs in the game and just some general in game lore that sets the premise of the game. I know a lot of people could care less about the lore and a better gameplay experience is prioritized (obviously), and yes the game is still in beta, but it’d be nice to see some small character developments or even improved background stories on the mercs profiles, if not now, after the game comes out of beta. I personally think something like a comic would suit the game nicely, kind of like TF2’s comics.

They’re on the wiki IIRC, but not integrated into the game’s profiles.

Most of the backstories on the wiki are on the actual in game profiles but I was thinking like a short story kind of thing or a comic for character origins.

Not exactly what is discussed of here, but I’m just leaving this magnificent Ce23Ric bloke’s creation (hopefully his) here! It has a word “story” in it right? :3

This is exactly what I was talking about, some kind of lore or story, I mean sure its fanfiction, but its something! Something like this would be nice, or maybe a comic? I think a comic would suit this game very nicely.

Oh yes comic would be splendid! I like TF2’s style, yet same cartoon seemingly random goof-a-bout might not fit so well in Dirty Bomb. Maybe something with bit more serious art style, yet having very humorous feel to it. Something like Gone with the Blastwave (kudos to the artist mr. Lemetti for this great comic), perchance?

There is a lot of features that were removed. My best guess is a lot of the features were removed because they knew they would be constantly re-working the UI during the closed/open beta and it’s easier to simply not have those features in place until it’s all up and running the way they want. It also allows them to do a full release build that has a ton of “new” features.

That’s my guess but it makes sense from a developmental and release standpoint.

Yeah, I can agree, the goofy cartoonish style probably wont fit the game, but monthly or bimonthly, more or so realistic and serious comics with some sort of a humorous aspect would he suited to the game. That comic is pretty nice! And of course we can’t expect too much until the game is fully released.
