Menu Change: No BiG TEAM?

(wolfnemesis75) #1

Big Team has been removed from the Free Play Options.* What’s the dilly, yo? (Just curious)

*Could this mean that DLC is imminent?

(BiigDaddyDellta) #2

Standard play is now 8 v 8 PvP.

Praise the Gaming Gods!
It would appear that they’ve finally sent us a developer who’s competent and filled with integrity.
Kudos, Splash Damage… KUDOS!!

goes to turn on Brink and check the Freeplay settings

What? what are you talking about man?

Um… After looking at my reply, I guess it is a bit of an inside comment.

Maybe, this link will help… http://www.splashdamage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28708

We’ve noticed some tweaks to respawn particularly on Container City. So the Devs have been doing stuff behind the scenes.

(BiigDaddyDellta) #7

Well, that’s cool I guess they just want to surprise us without telling us things? I mean I suppose that’s cool but not everyone can notice these things so behind the scenes is good for say, us. but the rest of the fans are gonna WTF all day.

(wolfnemesis75) #8

Well, would you rather they put all their emphasis and resources/manpower into optimizing the game and tweaking behind the scenes, or would you have them spending that time tweeting and posting to appease the whiney cry-babies?

(BiigDaddyDellta) #9

Oh definitley tweaking, but a whisper from Badman wouldn’t hurt.

(Wildkarrde) #10

I’d rather they’d have done alot of things.

(wolfnemesis75) #11

Badman did post early this week about once they have the date for the DLC locked down they will reveal it. Rather than post something that ends up being a rolling release date. He said something to that effect. Basically, they are probably optimizing and tweaking everything before releasing the DLC into the wild.

It would be nice to be updated though, typing doesn’t take long.

I’m using on-screen keyboard and can type quickly enough. They have no excuse

Sometimes there are embargoes on certain releases. Those dang Marketing folk and their crazy ideas.

That I could understand if the changes hadnt been made yet but to tweak the game and say nothing is just lazy

(wolfnemesis75) #15

Nah. The Netvkars or whatever the heck they are called; a lot of Devs are doing similar things and not saying. Epic Games does the same thing, tweaks in the background, that way they can test stuff out and avoid having to go through Title Update just to make minor tweaks. They have more data on everything than we do, and so can adjust accordingly. Some aspects you may feel needs a fix may be fine like a weapon that some think is overpowered may actually be right in line with where the Devs want it to be or is not as bad as perceived. Just my two cents. Also, as soon as you say you’ve changed something, there is a huge reaction. So rather than have people going wild over changes, they introduce stuff gradually.

I'm not complaining; as long as they're still tweaking and polishing the game up, I'm happy. I'm not sure about you guys, but I bought "Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising" since it received good mostly good reviews. I played it for a few weeks because I liked it alot, however the more I played the more I realised was wrong with it. Glitches, stupid AI, and tweaks that they needed to make. The developer released a single update before announcing they were not going to support the game anymore, and to add insult to injury they released DLC that was already on the disc. (I bought it for some reason x) ).

My point is, be glad the developer is supporting the game at all because when you buy a game you are not guranteed updates.

Few changes I’ve noticed.
Competition is now full teams of humans. 5v5 min. players 10.
Standard play is now 8v8 capable though empty slots will still be filled with bots.
Someone yesterday said they had a 32 sec respawn timer? way more than the original 20.
I can’t say that that will help much unless it’s strictly to help combat the Defenders being favored to win on most maps. Like maybe on CC, or SecTow.

30 second timer on Container City for defenders once the Bot gets by the overhanging bridge. It does give some help to offense. Because defenders spawn so close to the crane.
