I actually want for a merc+loadout to melee with, I think I should consider this lol
It depends on the level of the enemies and even more on the map. Chapel is prolly the best map to go meele because its rather curvy and its therefor rather easy to get into close range without being spotted 20 meter away.
Still remember a Sparks with Bat and a Kiratana annoying the shit out of me at first obj while i was on attackerside. They just camped around every corner double wall jumped around and the moment you look for them an other guy from their team shoots you from range. Not to mention whenever they didnt manage to hit you good they instantly runned behind the next corner which was only <5meter away. (Bunnystyle naturally…) 
The worst part of this was that i just took fletcher out of my squad.

This I have to agree with…a lot of pub players can be easy to sneak up on because frankly no one ever watches their back, even after getting chopped down a dozen times.
People don’t listen at all…why mines are so good in pubs

Nobody thinks it’s crazy that a load out specifically designed for melee for Rhino existed? Quick slash is obvious, but the addition of Tryhard counteracts Rhinos low speed and high chance of getting killed by awarding him extra health. And Tough is godly, we all know that.
Tryhard on Rhino is actually pretty strong. If you purposefully die to enemies three times, hopefully trying to focus only on objectives, you get a 230 HP team wiper.

Rhino is way too slow unless you run a meele only match or chapel. Nearly every merc can run away from Rhino while shooting him in the face. One sprint away and Rhino wont be able to catch up so you literally can run past him and ignore that fatty. 
Fast mercs will (always) be the better choice for meele because the crucial thing at meeleing on all maps is the ability to cover the distance between your bat/knife/katana and the guy with the gun who is shooting you. (Thats why to me Kiratana is way better at meeleing than Phantom.)

Rhino’s speed most definitely is his downfall, which is why instead of a rushing melee style, you have to play it tactically. Usually, I would try to surprise people around corners, do flying long jumps in needed, and generally try to stick to the sidelines and small spaces.
Given that you sprint after each knife, you can easily catch up with medium to heavy backpedaling enemies, but when you encounter a light merc, you either are going to have to commit to getting a perfect long wall jump to catch up, or tactfully retreat and wait for a better opportunity.
The extra HP from tryhard helps sort of balance Rhino’s melee battle, giving him enough hp to close the gap between some mercs that other mercs like Aura, Sparks, Proxy, and Kira could easily cover.
Melee Rhino is still a gimmick, though. It’s fun to do silly things like that every once in a while.
Tbh if you’re not paying attention and you see a huge ass Rhino with 230hp running towards you with a nice with his fat ass just raping you all over the place, next thing you know you’re dead. Ain’t that a pretty sight.

Kira is actually faster than Phantom and all the other fire supports, putting her sprint and health on par with Proxy’s.
Kira: 90 hp, 440 speed
Skyhammer: 120 hp, 400 speed
Arty: 120 hp, 400 speed
Phantom: 110 hp, 410 speed
Proxy: 90 hp, 450 speed
Aura: 80hp, 460 speed
I still maintain that the Katana is not a viable primary weapon and it’s always best to use the rifles or shotguns unless your adversaries are low on health, grouped up, or on a med station.

fully agree, he can also get the Dreiss if you’re bad with timing the Grandeur shots not to mention the cheesy first gen quick-slash/chopper loadout for funz.
also puts out stokers flames with smoke and can see phantom with infrared from a distance
I like to think all the snipers have enough of a niche to pick them over redeye though…
ok redeye needs more mercs that counter him… make thunder blind him longer if he has infrared on
