Eh, I would have just left. It’s kind of rude of players to try and control an open server like that and force what they want to do on people joining when they can go make a private match. But if enough people on that server wanted to do it and you didn’t want to join in it cost you nothing more than a couple of minutes to find another server. I understand your viewpoint though.

I remember playing on Deathmatch with all guns enabled Jedi Knight 2 servers with people getting upset because you’d use guns instead of lightsabers/force powers only. I get that people enjoy that and I even competed in a sabers only tournament (even had a 400 ping) but there were already sabers/powers only servers. It was quite annoying just how common that was.

Melee only can be a whole bunch of fun like others have said BUT only if everyone on the server is in agreement to it (if not them move to a private server) since these are Public and no single person or group of persons can force you to do anything.

I have not actually seen or played any of these ‘xxxx only’ matches for a while, last one i remember a few months back was on Execution and it was ‘Medics only’ and able to use Abilities and Melees, those rounds literally had me laughing my ass off while running around trynna get kills with my Defibs as Sawbones… ahaha Fun times :grin:

Now who’s up for a game… No Guns, No Melee… Abilities only!!

Waiting for Rhino and Nader to show up.

We played an interesting game awhile back on Bridge. Two rhinos setup with an aura at the end of the bridge. Entire enemy team of 6-8 proxies. Proxy is melee only. Rhinos and Aura can do whatever they want. Basically it was a lemming rush of proxies hopping everywhere trying to get to the rhinos and kill them on a healing station. Lots of fun. Although a couple people misunderstood and used their mines to great effect. :smiley:

Oh, and the proxy players were only allowed to take a specific route that exposed them to the most minigun fire. Even with all the of that the melee only proxies usually won.

Melee only in amusing every now and then. It changes things up and can be really funny if people actually PTFO while it’s going on.

I like melee only play. Usually people love to take Phantom or some Sparks or Proxy for that. They never know they will meet my Red eye G41 knife operative.

I played in pub with melee primary during 2d week with Sparks, Phantom and Rhino. I just wrote “No honour”, “Guns are for weak fight like man”, “Check your corners Red eye with knife will kill you before mine” and such kind of things to provoke people to fight with me. They sometimes challenged me in first couple of games. At third i met team with 3 Rhinos, Thunder and Fragger… Too fat team for that. Although i enjoyed that PayDay cloaker cosplay.
