Something shocked me… the bind for ammopacks is different from the one for medipacks (the quick ones). Am I the only one who would like a change about this? ^^
Medipacks and ammopacks
Would make sense IMO.
I didn’t noticed it though, but that may explain why I thrown my air strike by accident today.
Been complaining about that one for ages. When switching between Sawbonez and Skyhammer, it’s pretty much guaranteed that my fisrt airstrike will get droped in our spawn / I’ll be trying to heal a teammate or two with my defibs…
dont use ‘q’ for airstrikes; youll be more accurate if you pull it out first with ‘4’ : )
Never noticed this but it would explain alot. I often switch between Arty and Sawbonez and i hate it when i try to toss a medpack and instead pull out my defibs. It has killed me more than once. But so has alot of other things, most commonly my own bad play.
I’ve long since rebinded that to one of my extra mouse buttons which makes aiming quite easy
It just so happens it’s also the one I’m used to tapping when lobbing health packs to teammates.
It is confusing, but it also follows some logic. Ammo drops and defibs are common abilities for ammo support / medics, whereas airstrikes and medipacks are the more unique abilities.
It also just so happens that E is a bit easier to use if you leave default keybindings, so I appreciate having it reserved for defibs. With ammo support it’s more comfortable to have ammo packs on E, since they are dropped much more often than an airstrike is thrown, and like others have said, I prefer to pull out the airstrike item anyway most of the time (which I have bound to C).
I think the inconsistency can be gotten used to fairly quickly, I already feel alright with it and I’ve only started playing this week.
it’s something that’s been “discussed” for a long time, unless we can get per merc settings like we had in W:ET I don’t think there’s a compromise that’ll make everyone happy
I agree with @Nail that merc-specific binds would solve the problem, but I’m not holding my breath for that so I’ll continue to advocate more consistent ability binds across all mercs.
And by the way, this discussion gets even more interesting when you add Stoker and Kira to the mix as you then not only have packs on different keys but deployable stations as well (i.e their ammo stations vs Aura’s health station)
