medic "plus" sign.

(SebaSOFT) #41

Well, a white cross will do, or a white filled circle with a cross in the middle

(signofzeta) #42
Then… use the Templar cross as a medic sign, you can even rename your medic class as “Templar” … problem solved :stuck_out_tongue: … more RPG stuff ftw
The Axis from RTCW and ET had that design for their medics.

Then again, using that design would make the medics in Brink too old school.

(Apples) #43

Yeah, more iron crosses please

(.Chris.) #44

Is that considered as copyright infringement?

(tokamak) #45

It looks even more official than the original haha.

(BioSnark) #46

very reminiscent of the swiss flag

(Berzerkr) #47

Yes, modders will paint it red then.

(.Chris.) #48

Well isn’t there where they took the logo from in first place or something (someone linked to it i think)?

I think most people seeing that image would associate it with medical treatment when placed on a uniform or on a vehicle.

I think that red cross won’t like that lol. I think that if you are trying to represent the red cross by putting any colored cross on anything that does healing (if you put that same cross on a knife, then it be a swiss army knife), then the red cross would get all anal about it.

So therefore, no crosses are better than getting in deep trouble.

If you put the same cross on a tree, or as an alien crop cross, then I guess it is OK, but I wouldn’t count on that.

I also guess it is ok if it is on a flag in the middle of nowhere, but once it is near a building, it would look like the red cross HQ, and red cross would get angry about it.

I don’t play tf2 enough to have noticed but:

They can get cry as much as they like, if it’s not the actual red cross logo, they cant do anything about it.

It’s not about representing the red cross, its using an image that is associated with medical treatment that doesn’t infringe copyrights, I think the image I made would be one such image and judging by BioSnark’s picture similar methods have already been used.

I hate it when that happens.

…what about the sign present in your SD logo?

  • rotate 30 degrees clockwise, change the color to red… and you have your one of a kind, proprietary “SD - FPS Medic” sign…
something like the pictures in the attachment (y know that i will burn in hell for desecrating the SD logo :D)
You can use the sign for your other classes:
  • rotate 30 degrees clockwise, change the middle cross to a round target sign, change the color and you have your operative sign
  • remove the middle cross/x, change the color to black - dark blue, => Soldier sign
  • rotate 30 degrees clockwise, change the middle cross to a screwdriver and a wrench, change the color => engineer sign

…Kaboommmm… mind blasting…

(BioSnark) #54

on the other hand, hearing medics whining is awesome :open_mouth:

(Nail) #55

yeah, nothing like hearing 7 medics spamming “I need ammo” as soon as they spawn, brings back fond memories

(SockDog) #56

I’m guessing Valve get away with this because it’s a medkit and only a medkit? Nobody is actually handing them out or running around being a medic?

(tokamak) #57

The picture is just the perfect ‘bad’ situation. A burning medic is instantly cured by a pack and would’ve gotten the scout up and above his max hp in no time.

(BioSnark) #58

Yes. I was pointing out the upside of that situation

(ultraddtd) #59

I think they can use it if they can argue that it’s being used for artistic purposes, kind of liek how you can sy and show things in a film or book that are trademarked.

But then, if the majority of people saw video games in the same realm as books, tv and movies and not as toys then the industry would have a lot less problems.

(SebaSOFT) #60

E3 thread and this one are the most discussed for days now, SD give us something!

(Sorry for the OT)
