Medic Merc of Fortification

(I-Fell-Tower) #1

Name: Amadahy

Role: Medic

Primary Ability; Pondwater Totem: Anadahy deploys a station-like item that starts to expand in height. When the maximum height is reached or when the Pondwater Totem (PT) hits a ceiling it will activate itself. While active the PT will be almost completely invisible to the enemy team. The Totem does block enemies that try to go through it though. The PT has a health pool of 90 health and it restores one health for itself every second. If an enemy shoots anywhere else on the PT than it’s on-the-top transmitter the PT receives an energy point (EP) / every point of damage experienced. It can hold a maximum of 100 EP and if it has any EP it can perform healing in the following situation:

  1. PT’s transmitter can form a straight line of sight with it’s deployer’s teammate.
  2. The in-sight teammate is hurt.
If the previous things are true the PT restores 1 HP / 1 EP 20 times a second as long as it has that EP used for the healing. The PT primarily targets the most hurt ones and secondarily the closest ones. The cooldown’s 50 seconds, you can deploy just one PT at a time and you can reclaim it.

Secondary ability; Incoming Storm: If there’s a teammate of Amadahy who’s downed Amadahy will be notified of this. If this ability is activated she takes out a tablet-like device and can send a lightning strike to her ally’s location. This will revive them to full health but the strike can revive only outdoors having a line of sight to the sky. The strike can also be used to deal damage and slow-down enemies temporarily. The cooldown for the strike’s 25 seconds.

HP: 90

Speed: 450

Arsenal:

  1. For primaries she has the Hollunds (her default), Ahnuhld and the Blishlok.
  2. When it comes to secondaries she can have the Simeon (her default), .40 or the M9.
  3. Her default melee weapon “The Staff” has a fast hitting rate and a nice range but it lacks in the damage area of things. She can also have the Bat and the Combat Knife.

About Amadahy: She’s a native American on a mission somehow regearding London. She seems sometimes manipulative towards others and her true motivations are hidden in the darkness…
But WHO cares?! She’s a medic and ready to revive you even when she’s not there.

Uses: Amadahy can use enemy fire to her advantage. Getting behind her PT can greatly benefit her team and block out the lethal bullets. Behind her cover she can also revive teammates with a relative safety.

Weaknesses: Low range, vulnerable, lacks offensive power.

The primary seems to work like this if I’m reading this right:
It can’t heal unless it has energy
It gets energy by being shot at
It can regenerate its own health
It heals anyone the player can see, with no stated limitations
It’s invisible
Miiight need some changes.

The secondary ability:
“Medic, rez me, I’m down!”
“Sorry bruh, you’re indoors.”
Just use the defibs, please.

heard the word ‘invisible’ - thought of phantom - got sad: went to bed crying in remorse

… Also, balance that totem please.
(and think of problems when you have 4 on one team like in pubs.)

@TheRyderShotgun Thought of the feedback you gave about the abilities and decided that these changes could be necessary (also, I think I forgot to mention some things about the PT so here they are):

PT

  • Let’s say that it can heal Amadahy’s teammates even if it doesn’t have EP but the healing rate’s just 5 HP a second for primarily for the most hurt merc and secondarily for the most nearby one. Having any EP makes the PT heal teammates 20 HP / second.
  • Yeah, it gets energy by being shot at but the idea’s that you try to make the enemies shoot it, then you use the extra healing the PT provides to charge in the battle. Of course you don’t want the PT to get too much damage destroying it.
  • It can regenerate it’s own health but that’s there to compensate for the fact that it works the most effective by receiving damage. You are supposed to destroy your enemies BEFORE they finish their neutralize job.
  • No, it cannot heal anyone the PLAYER sees. It heals (with the rules stated higher) any teammate IT can make a visual with with it’s on-top transmitter.
  • I guess the invisibility could be balanced with a change of the invisibility breaking up for a brief moment every time the PT gets damaged.
  • And finally, the PT could only have 70 maximum HP to compensate for it having a health regen of 1 HP / second for itself.

Incoming Storm

  • When I was coming up with this idea I thought of Arty’s Artillery Strikes. They ONLY work outside and SD hasn’t still given them any inside use.
  • This ability though, it has some problems so I changed it’s idea a quite a lot. Now it’s called “Storm Flute”.
  • Upon activation Amadahy pulls out a flute and can play a 0.5-second melody with it with Primary Fire. While playing Amadahy cannot move and if she looks at a direction of some downed teammate of hers the teammate will be revived by the melody. The longer the distance between the players is the less health the revived teammate has. The ability also suffers from the cons of having a 5-second cooldown and (again) the fact that she’s immobile for 0.5 seconds while using this ability. The biggest upside to this is though that this works through objects like walls and from a distance. Of course the distance lowers the revive health but sometimes it can really come in handy.

@Naonna First of all, yes. The invisibility might seem scary but I guess I balanced it quite well when responding to TheRyderShotgun.

Amadahy’s Stats

  • HP could be 70 instead of 90. This change discourages extremely aggressive playstyles and incourages in the other hand to be a glass cannon. I always wanted the merc to be a
camper-ish one that only in the right situatons comes out to deal damage. Now Amadahy could be countered by simply locating her, flank her and placing some good bodyshots. Assault could also absolutely destroy her. But of course she could still provide heals and revives from a distance with a strong safety while backing behind her PT.

Sounds really good, I like it!

So it’s a super-aura-station which acts as Turtle’s shield? while invisible? - why would there be a use for ANY other merc with one that broken? You also gave the merc (basically) sparks’s revive efficiency. Can we avoid making super-mercs?

I get that it may sound fun or look nice with the aesthetics you’ve described. In terms of game play, however, this is a definite “NO” from the balance standpoint.

@Naonna You are bringing up some quite good points. Here are the changes I thought on the idea:

The PT

  • Instead of gaining energy and losing HP at the same time the PT would gain energy from all non-melee damage and not lose HP when not being meleed.
  • The PT repairing itself might be too OP. Scratched.
  • Now every non-melee point of damage the PT would receive without it’s immunity grants it 5% energy. The maximum energy’s still 100%.
  • While the PT has energy and it’s on-top transmitter (not Amadahy, the transmitter) has a line of sight to injured Amadahy / her injured teammate the PT would reduce the delay before the player’s natural health regen starts by 95%. While the situation would be true the PT would lose 5% energy every second. If it wouldn’t have any energy it would reduce the delay reduce by only 33%.
  • As stated the PT would be visually shown for a moment when hit.

Storm Flute

  • I didn’t really think of any changes to the ability but increasing the cooldown to 15s.
  • I also want to put an emphasis on the fact that over a distance the health given to a revived player will be reduced fast radically. Even after something like a 30 meters the revive health would be pretty much 1. The revived one wouldn’t have a post-revive shield, the ability is far less spammy when compared to REVIVR, it has a pretty long cooldown and really, at this point you having the ability to revive through walls really isn’t that OP.

I may be putting out more info about why I made the changes but for now, you can look at them and tell your opinion.
