Just picked up a Kira loadout with the Mechanic perk and it is completely unnoticeable. Posted on the subreddit and others are having the same issue. Also, just a suggestion; similar to how engineer classes have a plasma torch instead of the basic tool others use, give anyone using the Mechanic perk a different tool to differentiate them.
