So me and my best bud were bored the other day so we decided to think up some merc ideas for every class :smiley: .
Please don’t be too harsh people and maybe even post your own ideas below if you have some I am very curious :tongue:

John is just an idealised Phantom. Throw him away, better buff the original if needed.

Gauntlet’s is an engineer with recon abilities. Not sure if it’s a good idea, and it does not seem to fit that well. It feels just like that guy is called like that because his melee are gauntlets. Feels meh.

Birdie is a Stoker ripoff, with better AoE but less use indoors. No thanks.

Bloodgon does not respect the medic sheme (needs debifs), and the concept of hurting yourself to heal around is probably not a good idea. Too bad because he felt like the most original of all five despite the first ability being a Healing Pulse ripoff. A heavy medic is definitely an idea to explore in depth. Needs work.

Burnhilda is interesting despite feeling strongly like a Nader ripoff (take Nader, replace the GL with a flamethrower. Bang, new merc). Change that bio. A FT merc is an okay idea, but it will need to be deeply thought IMO : a merc like this can attract a lot of hate.

I honestly want some mercs with some movement options as abilities. Allowing a merc to run up a wall or jetpack for a short time would be pretty amazing as it could change up the meta significantly.

I wanted mercs like that too, but there’s just one issue that prevent those from existing : vertical movement. Current maps are not designed to allow people to go too high as proved the wall jump glitch and grenade jumping. A jet pack ability might break a lot of maps.

A merc getting mobility on the same plane would be much safer.

True, but I only had short jumps in mind. For the jetpack think of Boba Fett’s short leap over to the sand barge from RotJ (hope you’ve seen it). Something that’s more like a big boost but nothing that could really break the current maps. And if they could then the maps would just need to have the boundaries fixed properly. Same with the wall running. Very short bursts done in charges that re-charge over time. For example, on Bridge you could run up to the office but not up to the bridge or up to the second floor on the other side of the map behind the EV room. It would present new mechanics and change the meta (possibly just put them in a new mobility class). Would be fun and something that would fit Dirty Bomb’s design.
