mdc to md3 conversion

(cottonseed) #1

Hey everyone I tried to search for this but I am getting a ton of posts but none reguarding this that I seen. Does anyone have or know of a free tool/program to convert mdc’s into md3’s? Or if someone has the stock weapons converted already that would be good too.
Thanks

Sorry for reviving this thread but I got a question… Is there any way to convert an md3 file into mdc one?

MDC files are basically compressed MD3 files which were invented in order to save disk space. Disk space is hardly a problem these days, which raises the question why you would want to use this outdated format? I do not know if these CVARs have been removed from ET, but they used to work in RTCW. These CVARs should do the trick:

r_compressModels
r_exportCompressedModels

I have not dont this in a while, but sometimes you can just rename the file from md3 to mdc, there will just be no compression. I did this in a few mods. Also, I can’t remember, but I think I may have used milkshape trial to export the md3 file, before renaming it to mdc.
