Maxlives

Let me just make it clear that I’m asking about maxlives in general, not LMS in particular. LMS wasn’t very fun in ET, since it disabled objectives and really did just make the game a deathmatch. I’m just talking about a maxlives option to play the normal game but with limited lives on each team, be it one life or fifteen.

Because europeans are offended by the concept of mortality?

CHALLAGE!

eh? Its been a long time since I played LMS and I prob played it only a few times before I wrote it off as a mode that I wouldn’t play, but I dont remember objectives being disabled… I stand corrected if thats the case.

Honestly it’s been a while for me too but I remember that all objectives were disabled, health/ammo were stationed in different areas, all destructible obstacles were destroyed and ramps were built so it was pretty much just a free map you ran around killing each other on.

Much more fun to play the game normally but with limited lives. I mean what’s the point if you’re not playing with an objective?

i think your thinking of two different modes. maxlives is like standart ET with the twist that you only have a limited number of respawns. LMS is a game mode where you have 1 life and map are aranged differently with no objectives other than killing the other team. spawns are also relocated to make it more even for each team rather than like it is in standard battery for example where axis have a big advantage

When I played on maxlives servers, there seemed to be a “gentelman’s agreement” of sorts, where you wouldn’t gib after a kill. Sure if you need a uniform, or wield a panzer, but otherwise not.

I have never, in what’s about three years of playing maxlives servers from RTCW to ET, ever played a maxlives server where gibbing was frowned upon. You must have had the misfortune of playing the absolute worst maxlives server I’ve ever heard of. Making sure you gib your kills is one of the most important aspects of playing maxlives.

That’s baffling to me that anyone would suggest not gibbing on a maxlives server. The only “frowned upon” thing I ever remember from one server were a couple of ridiculously strict anti-spawn camping rules, but never anything about gibbing. What would the point be of playing maxlives then?

Also, carnage, isn’t that exactly what I said? That LMS has no objective and the maps are open and without normal obstacles?

Challage, my friends.
